Throwing away furniture doesn’t make sense for someone who needs a cleaning. When she is ready (if she ever is) she will replace the furniture. Thank you, Barbie for considering her. Also, thank you for saying that you leave projects for the owners. You give them a massive head start, so when they are in a better place, they can go through all of their things. More than likely she still needs to get over whatever hardship she is going through, so when she is ready, she will tackle it. I’m hoping she gets her child back. CPS have to go thru multiple parent interactions & many different protocols before a child is removed. It really is the last resort. And legally, they have to state why. The parent is told in writing, why & what has to happen for the child to return: whether its attending parenting classes, getting therapy/rehab, ensuring the home is safe & clean or ensuring abusive partners are not living there any more.

Trust me, people living in these kind of conditions are extremely ill and may not be able to centralize that kind of connection. I know someone that's a massive hoarder and they have trouble seeing that piles of clothes up to the ceiling is an issue. It's often a major executive function disorder.

Someone living in these conditions is not mentally well. Rationalizing with them is not going to work. Most of them know they have a problem and they know it’s not a safe or healthy environment, but simply knowing that doesn’t override the mental illness. We need to be more empathetic and help these people get the resources they need. That’s the only way things can actually change.

In NZ there is no help from agencies. I have tried to get assistance for someone, having done a similar clean as this, to be told it was now my responsibility! The person I was helping does not want me to continue, but there is nobody else. Their health is affected by the food mold and bugs, which makes the mental state worse.

I don't think it is weird showing us how you cleaned up the shelves and little figurines. It was cool to watch all the dust and webs taken away and shiny glass left behind. The reason the board is in the door was to keep someone from breaking in. Sliders can be jiggled opened even if you lock them. Having a piece of wood there is just a safety measure. I think you did a great job and you said her kids were going to help her get new flooring anyway, so no harm done. It is nice and clean for them to work with. You cleaning the glassy cabinets did seem weird yes. I think it's because it was almost ghostly. The cabinets were not extremely full of stuff that needed to be scooped out, they were "just" dirty. Untouched for many many years, like a ghost area in a house. Anyway, I hope you do not really get burned out because that is a terrible feeling that I wish on nobody. It was a gorgeous, large apartment at some point. I wouldn’t feel bad about that floor. Mice and other critters have been peeing and pooping on it for years and years. So it may not look beautiful, but it’s CLEANER!

It is clear that this person has totally given up on everything. They have checked out on life, clearly mentally they have shut down for their living conditions to be in this shape. CPS and mental health professionals are needed. I send prayers and blessings to them God help them to recover and overcome this deep depression.

Spiders, roaches and mice, oh my! Don't discount who you are. Whether you realize it or not, you are a professional cleaner. You're one of the best I've seen on KZbin. Most cleaning companies only do basic cleaning. You go above and beyond with your detailed cleaning. You give people a fresh and clean start. I've never had anyone come in and clean out my curio cabinets or even wipe down cabinetry. You take on the most horrible conditions I've ever seen. These girls that come into a home would run, if they walked into a house like this. So you are more than a pro cleaner, you're AWESOME!!

How do you deal with all the garbage bags in New York city? When I lived there, there was usually only a small area in the apartment building to collect trash from all the apartments. And you could only set it on the street once a week or so. If you had 10-20 bags of garbage, you could get in trouble with the super. How do you do it?

Hi Barbie, love your video's. The next time you have that kind of a challenge, try using a canister vacuum with a long hose. That will keep you away from the creepy crawlies while you suck them to their final resting place. I use an older model canister with a paper liner to contain this kind of mess. Keep up the good work-you are an angel for these people!

You did not hurt the floor…it looks so much better. You are amazing and very courageous to just keep going….this has been a massive project so far.
