You can also use a space heater. Just keep enough distance away, it helps keep the vinyl playable during the turning process. Love this bag! 💕

Hi Charmed by ashley, how would you make your vinyl stitching water proof? so water cant pierce in or out through the stitching . Thank You Reply
@Charmedbyashley Жыл бұрын
I cant speak to clear vinyl but i have been told if using a fabric like PUL you throw in the dryer and the heat will make the stitch holes expand helping make it more water proof. im not sure if shooting some heat on the seams of a vinyl bag could do the same thing but... maybe?? or may glue your seams down on the inside? press your seam allowance to one side and place some clear glue along it.

I like those round clear strap like a tube straw on clear tote. Do you know where I can find. I don't even know the right name to search.
@Charmedbyashley4 жыл бұрын
i have no idea... maybe you can use thin tubing from the hardware store? amzn.to/3kVCuC0 you could even wrap this type of tube with a piece of vinyl sew down the side to secure it then you could have a base to secure it to the bag.

So I just literally bought a sewing machine for no reason and now you gave me a reason to do this. Could you tell us how much did the vinyl cost to make this? Also can you do like a video on clutch purses or cross body clear purses haha I am so excited! And by the way do you sell these lol I really want one just incase I fail miserably like I said I literally just bought a sewing machine 😅

Vinyl is super cheap, im in canada and its about 10 bucks a metre, in the USA its even less then that! This is a 16 Guage vinyl so nice and stiff, get it from a fabric store to get a good one. And congrats on the new machine!! Its a good challenging hobby and so worth it once you get the hang of it! I will look into a clutch and sorry I dont sell atm, good luck!

Love the viedo, but what do you suggest to do if you don't have a plastic presser foot, so you can keep it from sticking
@Nancy-vw9jz5 жыл бұрын
When I teach classes on cork/vinyl fabrics, if you use scotch tape (not the clear kind) on the bottom of your foot it will help add the slide necessary :) Doesn't hurt the needle either!
@Charmedbyashley5 жыл бұрын
I prefer the tape method like Nancy said :)

Just to let you all know, sewing vinyl essentially perforates it and it will rip so fast it will make your head spin. So.

Hello, your video was so inspiring! Now i want to buy a sewing machine. Also can i ask if i can use any gauge of vinyl? I saw 12, 14 and 30 gauges. Is 12 just right or 30 is too thick? Thanks in advance 😊
@Charmedbyashley4 жыл бұрын
fantastic!! i wouldnt go too far over 20 guage and no less then 12, especially if you want it to be nice and rigid. i think between 12 - 16 would be just right
