AMEN! That was a nice bass. I forget it has been hot and dry in your area. But sometime it works to your advantage. Thankful for all things!!

Just found your channel a few days ago, I really enjoy it. I live in KY, we used to have some really nice creeks around home, but there is no fish in them much anymore, even in the Rockcastle river it is hard to find any fish. Several years ago the KDFWR reintroduced river otters and they have decimated the various waterways. It's hard to beat a rebel craw or a hellgramite, you can catch anything on them. Some really nice rock bass, we call them redeye around here. Thanks for the adventures. God Bless.

Nicely done. I notice that blue color on some Spotted Bass I catch too. All nice fish, but man that one was big! I just caught my pb Spotted Bass the other day. Very pretty creek there, and the bonus Rock Bass. Glad you didn't lose your camera. 👊
@williama.walker22875 жыл бұрын
Redeyes have the blue coloration, but spots will hybridize with other bass species, so it is not unusual to catch fish that look a little like both.

I used to catch quite a few Coosa Bass in the lower section of the Jacks River, which is nearby. Of course that was in the 70's and 80's, not sure what the fishing is like on the Jacks River nowadays. Heck, we caught those Coosa Bass without even knowing they were their own separate species. We just used to call them Smallmouths........but they had those blue undersides.
@gregkerr7255 жыл бұрын
@Michael Barnett Yeah, we'd hike in 6 or 7 miles and the further upstream we got the more trout there were. All were native trout generally 6-9 inches long that fought like crazy. We did catch a few large trout, a couple of 15-16 inch and one brown close to 18....but they were long and skinny and caught right before dark. Most of the bass were caught in the 3 or 4 miles before the Jacks ran into Tenn.

At 9:40 you walked past the best fishing. We used to fish the clear fork river in big south fork when the water was low. NIghtcrawler or minnow with a split shot about 4 inches up and just let the current take it under the rocks. You would be surprised at how many fish are sitting under those rocks.

At the river I seem to do better when the fish are ambushing my lure. In calm water, you can hit them in the nose at it and not go for it. In water with current, they seem to jump out from under rocks or out of crevices to pounce on the bait. Very cool video and I love the looks of that river!

Head over to the Chatooga until you hear banjo music, and then fish for Bartram's Bass. They are only native to that river system, and they are a prize for anyone who fishes for bass. Don't worry about identifying them. If you catch a bass that looks like nothing you have ever seen, it is a Bartram.
