Awsome man! Everything about your adventure has been awsome. Do u ever wish u hadn't spent all that money on the beautiful paint job? I'm not knocking it or anything but the reason I ask is because if u really end up playing off airport u will have many scratches. Just part of it. At the end of the day unless u are walking around it eyeballing it the scratches won't be that noticeable. Except to you of course. Anyway it's been great following the journey and have a great day. Oh, I know, you gotta tell people the scratches come from tight landings in the mountains! Haha. Hope I get to see Bogey one of these days.

Haha yeah this has been a frequent thought over the last two months. At the end of the day though, I wouldn’t change a thing. I wanted a unique custom paint job and I got it. At some point, I won’t cringe at the thought of a scratch. Plus I’m learning how to avoid unforced errors like on my spinner. I’m adding some 3M film to the leading edge of the stab since that’ll get beat up the most.

Just a thought, if available try a carbon fiber tube for the camera extension. Nice and rigid and of course matches your planes cool factor

Unless the layup is exactly right, it will be much too flexible. (According to the mount system designer, Ryan). I thought the same thing. Sounds weird, right?

3M Super Weather Strip Adhesive. For your rubber edge strips.

On the fairing for horizontal stab. They 3M make yellow & black, I usually use the yellow cause it's also a good gasket adhesive. works good for me. I'm sure the black would be good as well.

I’m not sure what you mean. Which rubber edge strips?

Nice to see your progress. The plane looks great. I'd be really interested in seeing what the view is like from the inside looking out through the perforated vinyl - both for looking down through the doors and up through the skylight (like looking for traffic or runways on steep turns.) Also, does the vinyl help cut down on heat through the skylight?

I’ll point this out on an upcoming video. It’s awesome. It’s a small trade off, but I’d do it 10x over again.

I have a suggestion for the 8 foot aluminum 360 pole. How about using an 8 foot carbon fiber, fishing rod blank
@CLEAREDDIRECT
@CLEAREDDIRECT 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion but I imagine a fishing pole being waaay too flexible, no?

@@CLEAREDDIRECT you could probably order a super stiff one, but I’m not sure what side loads and vibrations would be in your plane when you are flying. Even if there was a little vibration, I’m sure the 360 camera has some kind of stabilization. Or,,, maybe it’s a bad idea🤣

Steve my elevator horn is also slightly up in cruise. How far did you need to lift the horiz stab leading edge? Have you had a chance as yet to see what effect this adjustment has made to your cruise speed? Thanks Greg
@CLEAREDDIRECT
@CLEAREDDIRECT 3 ай бұрын
Sure thing. I raised my HStab leading edge by 15mm (net after 3 adjustments). After the adjustment AND putting the fairing on finally, I got a solid 5 knots! I’ll have a big discussion on this in an upcoming episode mainly with respect to pitch stability. That was the biggest benefit…

G’day Steve. Thanks for the response re lifting the horiz stab. I went for a fly today to confirm my Elevator Horne is up like yours in cruise. Just wanted to confirm you raised it 15mm (!!! huge) as measured at the leading edge. That must have gone close to raising the bottom 1/4" Socket Head Cap Screw to its maximum up position. Pretty much the setting RANS advised for the ROTAX engine install……. Have you spoken to Randy about it? Anyway I await the future episode that covers this issue.

G’day Greg… I initially went up 10mm then another 10mm which did max out the socket head screw. But then I went back down 5mm. Yes, I consulted Randy on this and I’ll share what he said in the next episode. Not to leave ya hangin, just it was kinda confusing and I’m headed to bed. Email me if you need more info before I publish episode 4. Cheers mate

G’day Steve. I now have my HStab dialled in. Initially moved it up 15mm - too far. Horne was now below HStab. Moved it down half way -7.5mm. Now Horne up but only slightly. Then moved it up another 3mm & nailed it. So final setting was up 10-11mm from original position. It will be interesting to see if it helps longitudinal stability in cruise above 8k as there was previously a porpoising tendency at higher alts….
