Glad these trees are getting a good purpose other than mulch or fire wood. I love the idea of turning the big oak into a dinning table for the new station.

Brings back memories as i did clearing for a bit when i was recently out of college, and i even used the same excavator (case cx 330, same thing different paint). Keep the clearing coming.

Where I live you could not cut the trees down for a new building unless it's for the county or government use. However you boys did a nice job of clearing the lot.

Thats really awesome that they decided to use the timber that was on the property for the things you mentioned! That is awesome! My dream is to build a barn or garage on my homestead with timber from my land. I have 100's of straight pine over 100ft tall that id love to mill, let dry, then build! Different was of doing things, I always dig around the tree and just push it all over so the stump comes out with the tree, any reason for doing it this way?
@NorthwestSawyer5 жыл бұрын
The reason for sectioning the stumps is to be able to get them through the chipper. It also cleans all the dirt and rocks out. Pushing the trees over can also split the log making it useless to sell for timber. I’ve seen quite a a few of your videos. You’re probably the first person who actually asked why we do it this way rather than just making a “you’re doing it wrong” comment. I’m sure you know the feeling. 😬
@NorthwestSawyer5 жыл бұрын
Oops. I thought you commented on my stump video where everyone told me I was doing it wrong. I’m going to mill the logs in this video myself for the new building.

Why don't you use a more open face cut? When you make them like you do in this video the face cut closes and the tree comes off the stump really early. You want that to happen when the tree is almost horizontal, and an open face cut would do that for you.
