Not honking can be dangerous. It's not like honking itself is necessarily bad. It's seen as an insult in YS and UK, but not in our country. Were just talking. There's traffic laws and then there's rules of the road. I swear this happened to me last month. I was moving through neighborhood narrow roads with cross lanes, I did the usual, slow down, honk thought nobody was there, pulled out (ok my bike), then a fucking Bajaj chetak aunty hit me. I was going maybe 20kph, she was faster still was blaming me, almost broke my finger. So HONK! especially if you drive an EV.

It’s normal for us Indians to drive on such roads with no rules at all. In the UK, I feel bloody stressed out following each and single rule where you can’t enjoy free style driving but just follow the road rules. You can’t focus on enjoying the driving but focus on road rules.
10 ай бұрын
@kazss2651 These rules and people following them make the traffic flow smoth because mostly everyone knows what needs to be done. It's calming and safe because there is order to it unlike this chaos here where you can't relax because you need watch like a hawk and just honk like maniac. You are not thinking about the rules when you drive a lot it just comes naturally and there is no stress about it. If you are new driver or never learned rules to confident degree then it can be harder and stressful but after you gain experience you are chill. In such scenario as it's presented in video you can't be chill and relaxed. Go on a race track if you want "free style" driving.

I have driven for 7 years in India before moving to UK. Took 4 driving lessons, saw few driving videos and cleared my driving test in first attempt in Bletchley. Here is my two cent from my own experience which is relevant more for India. 1. Be a good driver wherever you are, I was a law obeying, patient and safe driver in India as well. 2. Don't honk unnecessarily, I haven't done that in India either, for example where Gurjinder honked 2-3 times on a cyclist or tuk tuk, I would probably just hint once of my presence and be very brief to not irritate them, that is only if I suspect they haven't seen me or they keep driving in middle of the road. 3. Be extra careful on roads if you have children and elderly, freeze if they start moving around you in crowded area. 4. Be kind to others, try to give way, don't honk on pedestrians or cyclists and always remember that you were and will be there too. 🙂🙂🙂

These are the couple of things needed to drive safely in India. 1. A ton of patience. 2. 180 degree vision, you need to constantly move your head to scan the traffic ahead and on the sides. One cannot rely just on the side mirrors. 3. Anticipate the next movement of the biker, pedestrian, animals or four wheelers around you 😆. Never expect everyone to put indicators while taking turns. 4. Always expect someone to jump the signal on the crossings, hence make generous use of your horns. 5. Very good judgement of your vehicles front bonnet. Its very useful during navigating through narrow lanes.

This was wonderfully fun and interesting! It's one thing to even see that sort of thing as a several seconds' cut in a general documentary film, and quite another to be able to watch longer reels of continuous driving. I kind of expected people to treat traffic rules "liberally", but I still found it surprising that there were no official speed limits or, at least, that people wouldn't know what they are. Even the local people!

You won't find many sign boards in India, usually the iron/steel mafia will cut it down and sell it as scrap that's why it's not that common to find sign boards here and thus people won't know much about the speed limits

Well that was pretty hectic but your sister was very relaxed, as someone else said. The clip where you said "well maybe you should teach them how to do it the right way" or something now makes sense, now that I know she is an instructor also :) I don't think I'd be able to drive there either, but I''m just returning to driving again here in the UK after 3 years of not driving much at all. Had my first solo drive since late 2019 earlier this week to go get my new car checked at some local places and had to drive down the narrow high street roads. It was really busy and so I did not choose the best places to park (didn't have much choice) and so I had to get someone to spot me, otherwise at one point I would have been blindly reversing onto a road and there was lots of pedestrians that you can't see either until you're part way reversing. Quite nerve-racking as it's basically a new car and my first drive in 3 years on my own lol

The speed limit in populated areas is 50 KPH. (For both Pak and India) It is 30KPH nearby schools 60KPh on the highway if it is passing through a city/town. (Like the G.T road) 120 KPH is universal speed limit for motrways and free ways.
