Speed limits are a guideline and are in no way connected to the mechanical efficiency/physics of a vehicle entering a turn in the road that you encounter. 1) The car is likely front wheel drive or 4wd. Both inherently understeer by design in comparison to rear WD vehicles that naturally want to oversteer. (Very few modern European cars are RWD today in comparative numbers to FWD or 4WD as a caveat. 50 years a go it was the opposite in Europe. FWD has been favoured for decades for compact design of front engine with compact transverse gearbox set up, favoured for less components and lowering tyre wear by design. All this science means that if you maintain a constant speed even within a set speed limit guideline, around a turn the vehicle will turn wider into a bend however shallow the turn may be. Its the physics of the drivetrain of a modern vehicle. A good experienced driver gains this knowledge over time and adjusts the throttle appropriately to maintain an even tracking around the curve. It also reduces tyre wear and done right no loss of speed is encountered. Racing drivers teach this at track days. Understeer actually costs you time in a race, takes you off the race line causes tyre excess heat and wear and often an unnecessary gear down shift on exit. Coming off the throttle slightly at the right time stops all those negatives which she clearly didn't do. Young inexperienced drivers lack this understanding. Many don't even know about the mechanical physics of a vehicle corner tracking for starters. 2) you can see by the video that her focus was fully on maintaining speed and as such her reaction time at the point of turning the wheel was way too slow which further screwed up her ability to control the car once she finally overreacted. 3). She had ZERO danger perception of the surroundings. ie, woman with pram/buggy. Even hitting the wheels against the curb could cause an accident, at the very least scare the pedestrian. Regardless of wether the pedestrian is going to do something unexpected, like step out etc, you should always be anticipating the worst scenario around pedestrians anyway. Maybe the child drops an object out or jumps out themselves. Danger perception plays a really big part in passing an HGV test. Ask a seasoned truck driver about how annoying bad car drivers are when circling a roundabout in the trucks blindspot. As the trailer tracks outwards on even a slow turn, cars sitting on the outside lane get caught out by the trailer. Experienced car drivers hang back. Inexperienced drivers either get side swiped by the trailer or cause the truck driver major stress. Its the same principle. Awareness. About 4 hrs of truck driver cussing later people normally get it. Too many people today reach to blame others to cover what is the sole responsibility of every driver. Full awareness of not just whats happening in the car but outside it too. Having said that, inexperience is only removed by practice and listening to experience. Hopefully this girl just learned something.

Reading a road becomes a skill: hatched and wide red painted middle section on road means a bend where traffic is kept apart to reduce hazards ( particularly lorries may have difficulties to stay between white lines on sharp bend). Pedestrian on pavement should be given more space and reduced speed to stop in case anything unexpected happens. Remember that death caused by a white van driver going at correct speed( 40) but had to avoid turning traffic out of tescos petril station onto road ( elderly lady with med condition) and killed baby and mum on pavement as he had no other space to escape( should have braked hard and hit car IMO) ?
