I’ve been a fire explorer for almost 5 years, and getting a actual “job” is one of the most rarest moments ever. I have only gotten 3 really good fires, and I’m based out of Miami, so go figure. So responding like this is such a goose bump feeling if you know what I mean lol.
@ClearwaterBeachBum3 жыл бұрын
Here's to no more "jobs" so all lives and property stay safe.I joined the Bolton, MA Vol Fire Dept in 1984. At another department for a training course, I was talking to some other 18 year olds who said they can't wait for a big fire. I asked why? They said so they can go in and trash somebody's house while fighting it. I told them, "I'd rather let my house burn instead of you trashing it."
@michaelsaopagan36833 жыл бұрын
Frank Mahoney Very well worded sir. My intentions weren’t to come off as that high off adrenaline youngster, but rather as a young man who is hungry for knowledge and experience. That young man you spoke with, has no clue what he is talking about, or why firefighters in the first place tend to “break” stuff, I’m sure little does that individual know that it’s called “Overhaul’ to check for hot spots and fire extension, and not commit such an act intentionally because we want to, because that is not true. Forcing Entry to gain access to the fire floor etc, Im sure you understand where I’m trying to get at. I’ve never met a fireman who wishes that upon people on their hard earned home to go up in flames, and if they do, they shouldn’t be in the fire service to begin with. Nobody wishes that on anyone at least I don’t. Its good that it’s a rare occurrence. But, being able to do part of your job as a Fireman, actually fighting fires is a great feeling because you get to put what you trained for to work. But It’s a certain feeling that goes up your sleeve when responding to a confirmed structure fire, is where I was trying to get at.

YelpBullhorn Our department and PD were close, they would run blocker and even tag along to ticket idiots that wouldn't move over. They even loved pulling hose and fighting fire( outside). One huge brush fire it moved so fast it was jumping the concrete walls impinging on 4 houses really bad when I looked back they were stretching there own lines and on the deck guns on the truck. A great multi brotherhood bonding day. Sent two firefighters to hospital for exhaustion, I can say we probably would've lost one or two houses that day if not for PD that day. We only had around 15 firefighters there that day. Clearwater is a very good department I live about 20 miles from there.
