Cleetus and I both started at the bottom of the groomed lane and both had the choice to stay on the smoother section based on whoever got the holeshot. The plan was for me to move to the left if he chose to get right next to me on the same lane. It was Cleetus choice to move over to the right into the rougher stuff but yes I agree, the race should’ve been done in fresh powder for both of us but unfortunately there wasn’t much fresh untracked snow left after this wild weekend of KZbinrs driving every machine you can think of all around the cabin.

When Clettus came down on his front end, it reminded me of a trip to the sand dunes in central Utah as a kid. My dad was the only dude in the Jeep Patrol who was willing to try and climb “Temple” (largest dune) from the straight side. First time he did it, the blazer was full of people. He did so well they wanted to get it on video so he did it again with only one other person with him. (We were all too scared to do it again) He overshot the top and came down hard on his front end and completely twisted the driveshaft in half. Took the blazer out of commission for the rest of the trip but he was known as “The Man” from then on. Now my dad is 84. Thanks for bringing back some good memories I have with my dad! ❤
