I played here with my brother its an incredible design the England Golf should act this course is a piece of history and art, its priceless. It would be an extremely sad day if it were to cease being a golf course. The Council and England Golf should come together to keep it open as a public golf course, it is simply stunning.

I've lived in Canada for the last 20 years but I have wonderful memories of playing this course, it is true links golf, very challenging. There is nothing really like it over here, and I just hope that I will get another chance to play Cleeve Hill. In my opinion it follows the Scottish model very closely and keeps the game accessible to working people at a reasonable price. Good luck to those involved in trying to save it.

Another beautiful and emotive video!...and just like the Royal Liverpool and Woking videos, makes me want to visit Cleeve Hill as soon as possible...unfortunately, being on the other side of the pond in COVID times, I am not sure when this will be. Well done Cookie Jar Golf and I hope this helps drive the necessary support for Cleeve Hill Golf Club!

I grew up playing golf at Cleeve Hill, I spent most of my childhood up there being a junior member for years. Then when I left school I was the assistant to Dave Finch the professional who is still there now. I can't believe that the council are doing this. It's unbelievably sad and hope that someone can come up with something to stop this happening to such a great golf course 🙏
@CookieJarGolf4 жыл бұрын
Just Above The Average Golfer I think the council just don’t know about the place in the same way as the golfing community! With some luck and effort from people in the industry we’re sure it can be saved

Thanks to Cookie Jar Golf for this excellent video, which gives a great flavour of the course. I am founder and co-Admin of Save Cleeve Hill Golf Course, which can be found on Facebook. We're liaising with club committee and other stakeholders and interested parties to fight this closure and secure golf on the Common for the long-term future. Please do visit the group page, join, and support us to prevent this threatened closure. The course has a huge place in the history of golf locally and beyond, as well as providing facilities that are invaluable in enabling access to the Common for all visitors.

Hasn't anyone noticed that golf membership is on an upward curve since Covid Crazy time to think of closing such a unique course
@CookieJarGolf4 жыл бұрын
I think that’s the stark thing, and why it could be saved with the right approach and investment! Crazy times but this place shouldn’t be a victim of it all - if anything it should be thriving
@smashman220033 жыл бұрын
“The low green fee of £15 at peak times might deter golfers” I’m so glad the new owners have looked to resolve that by doubling the green fees on what is essentially common land to £30 at peak times....the locals and regulars must be thrilled at how accessible golf in the area must be now 🤦♂️
@CookieJarGolf3 жыл бұрын
£15 though not only deters people from visiting but also makes it difficult to run a financially viable golf course in the current climate. I don’t think protecting what is a crazily low green fee (for any course, not just somewhere as good as Cleeve) should be the goal when the club needs to be solvent and successful, and regular / local golfers can take advantage of off-peak rates or indeed membership... 🤷♂️ hopefully the new ownership helps move what is a fabulous course forward 👍
