I think whats changed with Clem is his defensive play. His micro and pressure have always been god tier but lately he seems more than comfortable to take the back foot and defend his bases perfectly. Against Serral and Dark I think this is what really separated him and gave him the extra edge.

Because serral always defend and win at the end. It is boring to watch serral against good player. In défense : Zerg win, terran ans only protoss can't have a good defense

uh... u mean the thing that changed was baneling nerf? clem has always done widow mine/marine/medivac. for the majority of games. now dark is attempting to avoid banelings in general.

He was already powerful against Serral then. What would destroy him were Korean players like Zest and Dark, players that would often upset his playstyle by doing very weird stuff he wasn't accustomed to.

He got countered by people who played more aggressive openings, attacking him before that timing. Why should he get rewarded for completely static unchanging gameplay via nerfs?

idk who remembers. but just a few months back clem started to get coaching by lambo. I'm going to take an educated guess here and assume that lambo has really honed in his ability to micro like a demon back at his own base. I would bet that with clems godtier mechanics, and lambo's ability to theory craft has created this monstrosity.

I think dark is so much fun to watch. Serral is the cinematic Zerg. The Zerg you play against in the campaign and it seems so clean and unbeatable but fair. "I think that infestor was spawned in on location because that was so perfect!" kind of thing. Dark is the fan made difficulty mod. Chaotic and seemingly unfair. Sometimes it doesn't work right and gets walked over but most of the time insane. I really wish that Dark could keep playing professionally instead of the military service but it is what it is.

Clem got better, his defensive play is much better, he utilises much more libs than before, overall his understanding what he needs to do and what he doesn't need to do is way better now.

I know what a cassette tape, a cd rom, an eight track tape, a reel to reel tape, a punch card, a film strip, a zip drive, and a thing maker is... and I still play Starcraft and watch Winter's videos. I am the equivalent of a toddler fighting against the karate instructor. Hot keys are for youngins who like to win, I like to lose with maximum low APM. 😂

The funny thing about Terran in moments like 16:58 is that while their supply is higher, most of it is in production (and medivacs/vikings). Part of me wonders what would happen if herO just a moves into the 2 libs there. The ground force actually on the field was so small.

In game one toss went into trades with terran during timing window when terran have an edge. Not the great idea. In second game toss lost too many zealots for free that did absolutely nothing. You can really see in this game how much better MaxPax is.

In my forties, my back pain is ok most of the time, thanks for asking :D I owned a cassete, cleaned CDs was a thing, and it "worked", in the sense that before it didn't and now it does, but it could be for any number of reasons, we just like to think it was that. AoE2 was amazing, yeah. But so was Manic Miner in my spectrum, not that anybody cares ... this young punks!

can someone explain to me why you dont upgrade shields first as protoss? i get that zealots have more HP than shields and ghost EMP screwing them, but in PVZ why not upgrade shields frst, you regenerate them again, this would be especially good for herO with stalker micro, no?

1. attack upgrades usually serve you better than defense, save for very specific cases 2. armor upgrades increase your effective HP for singular fights. A lot of ground units don't get to survive many fights and you prefer them to be at top performance for the one fight they'll be in (think zealots). 3. most ground units have more HP than shields, so the increase in effective HP is more noticeable when you increase armor first. The only case in which shields should be prioritized is with units that you can reliably retrieve alive from combat and quickly regn their shields. You'd need some sort of blink stalker+ shield battery + enough time to regen all shields setup for that. Which is unrealistic. Armor upgrade is a simple clean way to upgrade all your ground forces reliably without any need for specific tactics

@@primary2630 Good question. I like most of SCII but EMP just spoils the whole thing, so I only watch occasionally. As soon as I see it used, it's pretty obvious there's no point watching any more of a given match. It's not always used though and there's no way of knowing up front. I guess casters could put up an EMP trigger warning. I don't think they'd appreciate the extra work to discourage people from watching their videos though.

For the pros the micro battle of Ghost vs High Templar favors the Ghosts so the Pro Protoss don’t usually build them as part of their standing army. In Diamond league Ghost vs High Templar micro battles are very common.

Clem makes Terran look imba right now. (Maybe it is) Thinking about it, I'd say that any asymmetrically balanced mechanic is going to suffer from flavor of the patch, syndrome. Especially when those patches are based on polls/trends, ignoring unrealized potential, and superior players make one of the available asymmetries appear unbeatable. (ae: Serral getting Zerg repeatedly nerfed) Swinging things wildly, due to sentiment and not objective numbers.
