The reviews of the game were great; perfect for both veterans of the series and newcomers alike, but the real nutshot was the fact that is didn't sell as many copies as originally hoped. Thus, deep sixing any hopes for the rest of the older games to receive a remake. Not to mention that Mark moved on as a doctor.

The reploids were led by Sigma to control a maverick that had a virus inside him. That maverick was Zero who at the time was rogue and managed to attack Sigma and infect him in the process. Zero was saved by Sigma and joined him to fight by his side. Unfortunately for Sigma the virus spread and corrupted him within an instant.

A fun fact-This was meant to be a reboot of the X series. That would've been awesome, and we could've explored a lot more aspects about what the world is like, the motives and characters, and so on. I'd especially like to see how a more complex X2 story would be. And I have a lot of fanfiction plans for that very reason

If the scenario is a no-win scenario, then maybe it's more of a test of character. Do you risk a life to save more lives? More likely though, it's representative of the idea that particular scenario would be nearly impossible to clear correctly and is more like a final question in an exam -- get it right and you're perfect, but if you get it wrong you're still very good. Remember, reploids can be rebuilt, so it's not as if it's the end of the world if you have to hurt an innocent reploid to stop an out of control mechanaloid.

JourneytoNewZealand It isn't that realistic. I think teleportation is non-canon in the X series. For instance, in X4,when Sky Lagoon is about to fall down,X says he needs get down there. But he teleports up instead of down. By the way,where do X and Zero go or come from when they teleport? It doesn't seem to add up. Maybe if the teleportation was similar to instant transmission like Goku does it would be better.

No, the battle with Zero and Sigma was way before the events that took place in this. Zero was originally created by Dr. Wiley and was evil and was sent out to destroy Megaman. When Sigma confronted Zero in the events you saw on MMX4, Sigma defeated Zero and during the struggle he managed to destroy the evil in Zero, but at the same time he somehow was infected with whatever was wrong with Zero.

I believe the storytellers and Inafune were going somewhere with rewriting the entire plot, only if they could ever give a shot to combine the first 3 X games into one bundle that could have been MHX. We can come up with sth legit on our own if necessary, but it's sad we won't know what Inafune had in mind.
