Spiritual Successor to Breath of Fire

oh my GOD, I LOVE the old breath of fire games. breath of fire 6 was such a drastic shift in style, i was really disappointed when they never picked their old style back up for future games. A spiritual successor is just what we need 🥺

I completely agree with you but I am let down by the graphics I wholeheartedly hope if it can be shifted to a hd 2.5d graphics style cause in these day and age if you want to win young hearts you have to make it look pretty, the pixilated graphics is a bit dated.

There was never an origin breath of fire on gba . They was on snes 1 and 2. later on ps1 and others

Incorrect. It just takes a 5-second Google search, my dude -- always a good idea before leaving a snarky correction. Breath of Fire 1 and Breath of Fire 2 were both ported to GBA in 2001. Many people who were too young to play on SNES played them first on GBA. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the GBA port of Breath of Fire 1 was the first legitimate way to play the game in Europe & PAL territories (since the SNES version of that game was never released in Europe & PAL). Breath of Fire 2 did get a worldwide release on SNES.

A spiritual successor does not need to be made by the same original team. It's enough to have similar themes and inspiration. For example, Undertale is a spiritual successor to the Mother (Earthbound) series but is in no way connected to the original team.

Undertale is just a game inspired by Earthbound, there are hundreds like it (not even joking), but you choose Undertale because it is more famous. Just inspired. So what is your reason to choosing it and not the other hundred ones? Also there's hundreds of Castlevania inspired games, so all of them are spiritual successors? Nobody ever called them that. Why? Because they don't have the original team. Bloodstained is called that. Why? Because it have people like IGA and some other key members from the Castlevania series. Also, a lot of Megaman inspired games, none is called that. It is not that hard, dude. -Bloodstained -Armed Fantasia -Penny Blood -Eyuuden Chronicles Even Mighty N9 might be called that. It doesn't even have to be an indie game like the upcoming Callisto Protocol being made by the original developers of Dead Space. Not hard, huh?

Unless you somehow think your personal definition is more valid than a crowd-sourced definition, you're the one who doesn't know what you're talking about. You arbitrarily limit your definition to one specific type of spiritual successor like Bloodstained, but that's only a part of the full meaning of the term. The Wikipedia article lists three types of spiritual successors under video games: games by the same studio, games by the same staff, and games with common themes only. You can choose to ignore the last category if you want to, but that doesn't make it less valid.

If you look up "13 games inspired by Earthbound" the article literally says "The Mother series wasn't one of Nintendo's best-selling or most popular releases. While this has stunted the franchise's future, the series is thankfully carried on through many spiritual successors." My point is your strict definition of a spiritual successor is just one type. The universally understood definition includes games that are homages or pastiches, which you seem to disregard but you're the only one.

While this game looks cool, Clemmy you might want to change the video title. I know that the devs are calling this a "spirital successor to Breath of Fire" ... but in English, the term "spiritual successor" requires that some of the creators of the original game need to be involved. While they do appear to have solicited a few songs from BoF composer Yoshino Aoki, she is the only BoF veteran. This game is mostly being developed by two Swedish indie devs. People seeing your video title will think the Breath of Fire developers are getting back together (like the Suikoden creators with Eiyuden Chroncle) ... but it's simply not the case with this game.

I imagine you feel the same way about all games, movies, TV shows? Because I would characterize just about all of them as anchoring around an "unoriginal plot". JRPG stories on the other hand are a lot like legends and myths, which from the beginning of time have all resembled each other. Traditional stories contain traditional elements. Doesn't mean the story isn't good, or the game isn't fun.
