Ain't no way a Cleric of Selune keeps Selune's favor after helping kill her daughter and then smearing her blood on Selune's statue just to get some ass.
@Polomance862 Жыл бұрын
One thing that the Nightsong makes evidently clear.. What is Shar's is also Selune's. In the same capacity; this story reflects that what is Selune's is also Shar's. It's very well possible that Selune and Shar are in this bitter fight of who this cleric truly serves. In a lot of ways, there's methods to twist this. Everything was set up to this point; and the Cleric of Selune was tasked to put an end to the Absolute. If Aylin's demise assured victory against the Absolute... Was the price worth it? Perhaps all along Shar uses Shadowheart to lure another cleric into her fold?

@@Polomance862 what upsets me about the whole shar and selune being one in the same, is selune never made an appearnace the whole game.

@@Polomance862 There's the line where you can say to Shadowheart that surely her "goddess can't approve what you and I share" and she replies "Who's to say? Perhaps she's keen to seen me corrupt you? I can imagine she'd be delighted to turn a follower of Selûne towards the darkness." so in a role playing way it's easy to think that's exactly what happened here along the way. Though in a real dnd, my cleric would lose her divine powers for her actions.

An interesting detail about killing Nightsong as a cleric of Selûne is that the both "Selûne" tagged dialogue options during the final choice in the confrontation lead to Shadowheart killing her.
@Apillis12411 ай бұрын
It's important to bear in mind with Shar that people are oft converted to her cause without ever knowing it, and that includes clergy--while they may think it's the god/dess they think they're worshipping is in reality secretly Shar herself. A perfect and extreme case of what I mean, Shar is also the goddess of the Underdark, how she became such was she secretly murdered the god Ibrandul (a lesser deity who held the title and profile of god of the Underdark), she stole his power, profiles as a god and even his name, and the thing is--no one knows she did it--not even his clergy as she continues to feed them spells as if he never died. Shar is infamous for doing such things, so in this scenario, it can be very easily rationalized being a Selunite who aided a follower of Shar so much and to such an extreme, that unknowingly it's no longer Selune whom they're receiving spells and favor from, but Shar instead and never even knowing it.

I honestly think a Cleric of Selune Tav who participates in Sharran Rituals should have something similar happen to when a Paladin breaks their oath. Make it happen Larian!
@shadow_risen Жыл бұрын
All in all clerics should have similar mechanic to paladins that if they go against their god, e.g. cleric of a good aligned god committing evil acts, they should lose their divine powers or something.
@Meshifuari11 ай бұрын
@@ladyselin35 While it's true that paladins can take their divine power from oath... There are paladins that take their powers from gods in 5e as well. Player's Handbook, page 82: "Although many paladins are devoted to gods of good, a paladin’s power comes as much from a commitment to justice itself as it does from a god." A few of these paladins are even in the game itself. Zevlor talks how he wanted to gain powers from Absolute (as he mistaken it for a diety) to become Paladin once again. It saddens me that the game does not give you an option to either follow oath without a god or to pick god as well. It was something that was available in Early Access... So why take the choice away? And yes, killing Aylin, if you could pick Paladin serving Selune, in my opinion, should turn him into oathbreaker or **Blackguard**
@mjf4008711 ай бұрын
@@shadow_risen Using this mechanic for Clerics isn't widely accepted in the DND community and is often considered too much of a breach of player agency, probably because there is no adequate subclass for this concept like there is for an Oathbreaker Paladin. There are also no tenets as a Cleric - just like in real life, worship is expressed radically differently, and interpretations of religious doctrine vary drastically as well. Paladins and their duties, in contrast, are simple and well-defined. Other than the fact it would be an immense effort to apply rules and regulations and consequences for every Cleric deity, these were probably supporting reasons they didn't implement it.

@MarinaMcPeak9 ай бұрын
It took me far too many rewatches to notice, but after pushing Tav to the ground for the more aggressive kiss, you can see blood running down the side of her lips. I knew she had bitten Tav, just from the way they touched their lips after. But I really didn’t expect Shadowheart to bite them hard enough to fill her mouth with blood. That and the subtle peck being so close together really emphasizes her “don’t call it love” dialogue. She seems to be catching herself being affectionate and in love with Tav, in my opinion, and then feeling the need to convince Shar it’s more nefarious. There’s definitely something about the blood dripping, combined with the uncensored dialogue about being wicked, that really hurts my heart.

They love torturing people and pain contradicting the tenents of Shar.
