Parmatown Mall was a go-to shopping destination on Cleveland's west side for decades. Geyser-like fountains, huge plants and over-the-top Holiday decorations made the experience unique. The smell of Auntie Anne's pretzels filled the mall. Stores like Gadzooks, Camelot Music and PacSun were on the long list of stores that came and went. The food court was an attraction all its own, whether it was Antonio's Pizza, The Great Steak & Potato Co., Hot Dog on a Stick or Taco Bell.
Randall Park Mall on Cleveland's east side was one of the largest malls in the world. It was a shopping cathedral. Food memories include Hot Sam Pretzels, Orange Julius and Friendly's. The fragrances of Bath & Body Works called to you on your way to Athletic Attic, B. Dalton Books or Payless Shoes.
Tower City Center was very popular in the 1990's. There was a Hard Rock Cafe, Disney Store and Warner Bros Studio Store. Early that decade, you could still ride the wooden escalators in Dillard's department store. The fountains were programmed to put on shows with ribbons of water, music and steam coming out. Browns fans will remember the huge digital clock counting down the days until the Cleveland Browns returned in 1999.
This volume of Cleveland Mall Memories includes Parmatown Mall, Randall Park Mall and Tower City Center, but there were many more malls in Northeast Ohio. If you like this video, please comment or share and we will try to make more videos like this.

@@clevelanddotcom I really miss the old arcade downtown and the other one (I think the Euclid arcade) too. I would look at the architecture all the way up to the top floor where you could look out the skylight. All the different tiny shops and all those lucky people that had offices on the top floors! But that inner ring west side suburban mall on your clip, well, I grew up in! So I really liked that. Now its a lifestyle center, but so were the malls that we could go to in a Cleveland lake effect blizzard! I bet they come back in 20 years. I'm really enjoying these historic view you are making. 😵💨❇❄💨😰

I remember going to Randall Mall every other weekend. It was just a hangout with my school friends. We would stop by some stand that sold lemonade and a hot dogs on a stick. Then see what movies were playing. All that with $10.00 and had bus fare to get home or parents picked us up. The good ole days. No fights just fun.

When I was like 4 years old I took off running through Randall Park Mall because I was going to get my ears pierced. My mom told me they were going to use a gun and I thought they were going to blow my head off! Must've been watching too much Looney Tunes. Lol

Any plans on doing Severance or Euclid mall? Wasnt this the 2nd time Richmond mall has been closed? Or was it a renovation project for the now defunct property?

For sure, I've started gathering photos of Euclid Square Mall and some others. I'll have to look into Richmond.

2:09 - The countdown to the return of the Browns! There was a big countdown clock in Tower City that started in April of 1996 when the NFL made it official we'd get the Browns back to the first game of the 1999 season. There's an entire generation of Browns fans today who do not remember those dark days from Nov. 5th, 1995 through Sept. of 1999 - when Art Modell stabbed us in the back. We will never forget. Thank God the Browns have finally turned a corner and are looking up. 2:17 - I hated this Cavs logo from the second they revealed it after the 1993 season. There was no need to change the 1985-93 logo at that time. And those hideous powder blue uniforms and seats in the Q..... Thank God the first thing Dan Gilbert did when he bought the team was tear those seat cushions out and replace them with the wine colored ones we have now!
