I thought that the band of thieves was quite kind. Whenever they took a thing from the shoemaker, they always paid him dearly. Although they were thieves, they never took anything for free. The thieves in the story paid for everything. Who is more evil? The shoemaker or the thieves? The shoemaker kept profiting from telling lies. Wasn’t that a form of thievery? Meanwhile, the thieves would pay the shoemaker every time so they didn’t really steal anything from the shoemaker. My 7yo son while watching kept telling me that the shoemaker is bad. He understood that the shoemaker was always telling lies. What is the moral of this story really?
