Hi Andrew! So I bought a new 12 Pro Max yesterday and chose the “transfer data” option, then started to take photos while it was transferring all the data. My iCloud was being buggy so I then canceled the transfer probably an hour after I took the photos then reset my phone to factory settings. When I went to settings and turned on the messages to be included in a iCloud backup and turned off all the stuff that i didn’t want to be in a backup they all reappeared and it said they were being saved to iCloud storage . Thanks pal. My wife had deleted all of her messages from me and wasn't convinced they could be retrieved until I used your advice. I'm an android guy but have had to learn a lot about Iphones to keep her out of trouble.

So there is no way to get diskdrill on windows ? I found some on windows like imyfone and it comes off as a massive scam to me plus you need to pay and yes the texts are super old and that is the only technique that has a chance of working so do you have any you recommend I try on windows ???

Regarding the second method. How do you know when the download is complete and you can switch back on?

Actually, you should turn it off then on, select "merge" and wait until the messages are downloaded. There is no need to turn anything on after that.

I don't understand how the set up on the message app makes it so easy to delete the messages; yet, it's such a hassle to retrieve. For the money that's spent on these phones, Apple can do much better than that. The initial deletion should go to a folder and we should be given the option to retrieve the message from that folder and restore without making it a project.

Sorry, but iPhone recovery is only available in the Mac version of Disk Drill.

If you do not have physical access to the device, the only option to restore your messages is pulling them from the iCloud Backup, but only if your messages were synchronized to the cloud.

Hate iPhones....but have to use one for work. Tried to move everything over to new iPhone and it was a mess. Got everything back finally EXCEPT for text messages. Luckily, i had checked the messages box in the iCloud backup options on my old phone. When I followed your video, I realized the messages was clicked in my NEW phone. Clicked that and they all came back...THANK YOU!!!
