For the most part it's a pretty convincing dialect. But once or twice, it was over-the-top, and that was what gave it away for me. In the episode in season 3 where Wade took 3 of Tansy's pain pills, before he ran into Zoe at the harvest festival, he was sitting outside the barn on a bench, as high as a kite, and the way he said "bench" was exaggerated a lot, compared to the way he usually pronounced his "e" sounds. Almost all of the actors in the show had to get a dialect coach, no doubt, but they can't catch every little thing that sounds "off".

I don't know if Deidre was just saying it but he was/is my favourite extra from 'The O.C.'.That kissing booth scene was one of my all time favourites from the show growing up and I can still remember the lines said after (and including): 'You're dating this emo geek?' after all these years! I still can't believe, that I had seen, a decade before Charles Mahoney (How to get Away with Murder) and Wade Kinsella existed Mr. Bethel. :) Also, had a small fan-girl moment when he said the line 'You're dating this emo geek?' as mentioned above, I still very much remember that line! :p
