I like how you show how long the process can actually be. I have a great training video, but her dogs respond so quickly that half the time I feel like I’m doing something wrong. But to watch you struggle for a long time before you get the behavior, it feels like more of a realistic example.

What is the reason for using the clicker to build cues that you are wanting rather than using words like sit or down? Is it just because of consistency with the clicking and words will coming in time or is the clicker something that use for the for every day life with your dog to get them to follow commands ?

Ron A as long as its not over done it is no issue. As well as if whoa training is taught to the dog properly. When we see issues with dogs sitting when they shouldn’t be is if a dog is confused on what you are asking and sit has been a default. They just take the easy road to try and succeed. Even though it isn’t what you are trying to ask.

Why do you let her sit down for the mark vs. hold your hand closer and over her head to make her sit? not sure if that made sense or not. But that's how I learnt to train a dog to sit.

I feel you are double working by waiting so long to introduce the word sit. The clicker is used for to many different rewards. They need words to associate with the clicker after the first couple reps imo. You’re at the mercy of the dogs own intuition vs following an actual command. The clicker should be used only when commands are given after they understand clicker means reward. Just my 2cents 🤷🏼‍♂️

Honestly I couldn’t even watch this video. Sit as one of the easiest things to train and I’m not sure why you don’t just hold the treats in front of her nose and have her sit teach her to follow food and then teach her sit. It takes seconds. Sorry but wow…I’ve taught many puppies to sit / easiest command.
