She’s using a wet brush so the strands are farther apart which means it doesn’t tug at the hair strands as much and break it. Really, wet brushes should be used in the shower while rinsing conditioner to help reduce product build up and detangle hair.

Brushing your hair when dry can cause hair breakage. It's best to brush your hair straight out of the shower when it's just been conditioned and detangled and is the slickest and easiest to brush. Plus, when you hair is dry, it's set. If you wait to brush it until then then the tangles and awkward kinks will be set, and you'll be beating your hair with your brush.
