He has a family, but they are in US. He's American anyway. He's moved to Singapore after he finished his degree or something (if I'm not wrong), so he and Wendy could be together. At that time, he didn't have much money, and didn't have a place to live. He also found difficulties to find a job.

Someone did a mafia themed wedding in this British TV show called Don't Tell The Bride. they all had mafia suits and drove to the wedding in them old cars. the couple were really awesome too 'cos the woman carried the man instead of the tradition of the man carrying the woman, you know the woman wears the trousers and they were just an awesome funny couple. i can't remember what episode it is but you should look it up on Google.
