Such a shame to have lost the original Hudson’s building. It wasn’t just a soulless rectangular skyscraper that was used for boring businesses not even based in Detroit. It was a pioneering company that started in Detroit and the building itself was unique and beautiful. I’m glad that we’re more mindful about preserving structures like this today. And about safety precautions. No, not everything needs to be held on to, and we do need to move forward. But certain things are worth preserving.

I think in one of the aerial shots you could see the area where Comerica park was being built. Downtown is so different now. Large building currently neing built in its place now!

@@FrankaiVideos-DetroitsComeback I’m sure an ugly, soulless, modern, boring skyscraper is being constructed in that location. Detroit used to be known for its beautiful architecture. Not anymore. It’s just another boring, soulless, cookie-cutter city.

My grandfather was with the army core of engineers in the early 1900s. This demolition wasn’t done right he said. It should’ve been abatement done in the building such as removing all the insulation and checking for asbestos mercury lead etc. It is noted that some of these people that were down there that day had become very sick. You can see what happened on 911 most those people got cancer. This demolition was poorly done. One last thing, it was a shame they had to tear down tradition. That’s just wrong with society, everything is disposable. They should’ve left the building alone and repurposed it. as a child I was down there once or twice I am so sad right now to see this video.

as a child i used to take the bus to j.l. hudsons, trying on makeup and perfume, was really broke other then that, the building was amazing and i still remember the elevators were even plush, it would have been beautiful converted condos

@@FrankaiVideos-DetroitsComeback Skyscrapers are cookie-cutter, boring and ugly. That’s why US and Canadian cities are among the ugliest in the world. At least Europeans don’t have a childish and ignorant fetish for demolishing historic structures. They cherish their old and historic architecture. Modern architecture is garbage and Orwellian.
