ClickUp 3.0: What you Need to Know

I’ve been trying to keep up with 3.0 by searching through CUs Twitter replies, tweets, blog, roadmap, and their KZbin, but this video alone has given me the assurance I was looking for. Considering you have a community of ClickUp users, it’s nice to hear your summaries based on what you’ve been hearing from your team. Thank you for diving into this, Layla! Would love to see CU give you another preview opportunity in the coming weeks. They seem to be on a good track. My few comments are that, yes, I agree the buttons and text could be slightly larger. The failed drafting feature is a concern too. I also agree about needing a grayed background when the task shows up on the right. Other than that, looking forward to all else!

My biggest complaint is the "Inbox". I'm sorry, but Notifications should be called Notifications. Inbox should be a dumping ground of everything that doesn't have a home yet. Just like an email comes in. It arrives, and you need to put it in the right list, label, etc.

28:18 If you press ctrl + F5 you'll clear the cache & reload the page. The reson it was "half-in/half-out" and only updated after some time was the cache still had the old preference and after sometime the trackers they use emit something called a "cache bust" which causes the cache to reset; by pressing `ctrl + F5` you cause this to happen immediately. This works for all websites.

Yeah, I have trouble with my team members moving time tracking from ClickUp. But it is one of the main features we moved to it. Such a marketing air shaking making a new release out of facelifting 🤦

So, with leave vs hide Spaces, can you not simply hide a space, and quick toggle visibility anymore? Can you click "view all Spaces" and go to the Space without "joining" it? Or are you forced to have it on your sidebar if you want to actually go to it at any point?

Great question! The Leave/Join almost replaced the Hide/ Show functionality. When clicking View Spaced, you see all the Spaces in your Workspace. If you want them to appear in your sidebar, you must "Join." If you want to remove or hide them from your sidebar, you must "Leave."

44:41 turning more to the functionality of relationship custom Fields, have you done any noodling around to see if these are exposed to the API any more than they were in 2.0? I use them in some very hard core ways for a ClickUp CRM using a lot of Make integration

Great question! As of right now, Relationships and APIs have no new functions with ClickUp 3.0. After digging for details inside ClickUp's Canny feature request page, I still see requests for better functionality between API and Relationships. You can see the Canny page here: clickup.canny.io/search?search=Relationship%2520api For now, it seems like only the placement of Relationships was changed inside of ClickUp 3.0 and not the feature itself. Fingers crossed for new updates!

Hey! This comes down to preference. There are members on our team that prefer to use the app and others that prefer the browser. I would recommend experimenting with both for a specified amount of time and see what you think!

Another really useful thing they have seemingly removed are the coloured icons next to Task names in List view (and other views), which show you how many subtasks you have and what status they are in. This is really helpful in 2.0 to both draw your eye to see you have subtasks, and also to tell you how many you have in each status, really quickly. In 3.0, there is only this small grey subtask icon that gets missed easily, which tells you nothing about what status the subtasks are in. You have to click it to expand and see the subtasks. It's not only much slower to use (because you don't get much information until you click to expand), but it also does not draw your eye, so it's easy to miss you have subtasks. I don't understand these backwards usability steps ClickUp are taking with some parts of 3.0. Hey David! I’m not sure, but I think it’s quite unlikely. In all early versions of 3.0 released so far, there’s been no hint to item types. But really no one but ClickUp can tell us for sure!

I find the removal of Clean layout to be really disruptive, and not in a good way. It makes it much harder to focus on one area at a time, as you see all these other Spaces you are not currently interested in. I know from speaking to some of the developers that they only had about 10% of users using it. The trouble is, it wasn't the default view, so the numbers are naturally going to be skewed away from it. Looking at comments in various places, there seem to be many people who didn't even know it existed. The new look is not good for people who like to focus on one Space at a time, but still see all their Folders and Lists in that area. I really hope they find a way to make something like Clean layout for people who use it currently.

The same problem was with our American company. ClickUp showed that the transaction was rejected from the bank side. We used another bank account because we did not get any response from the last bank for 2 days.

Disaster of 3.0., support not replying my urgent issue. My team using mobile app cant mention assignees in the comment section. But on the website you only can. And assignees only can be seen on the Web and they aren't on the mobile app. Anyone else have the same problem here?!

@@LaylaPomper I left a ticket immediately after seeing it. I watched the rest of your video and you did show later that you can collapse the side bar, which looks sort of similar. I have a team of 15 users and we all prefer the clean sidebar, I understand wanting to standardize it, though.
