My Dear old Grandmother loved this on a Sunday afternoon I remember sitting with her during Autumn and Winter of 1983 as a youngster she listened in humming along and tapping her knee accompanying along with the songs. What different times they were. Hard to believe it was 41 years ago. I wonder what she woukd make of the world today. I never thought this lovely radio program would make me feel so nostalgic Happier times

My goodness! I remember this back in the 70s as a kid, when I used to listen to a lot of easy listening stuff on Radio 2. Sunday afternoons were special in those days, no ringing shop tills, just the sound of church bells. I appreciate those days more now than then.

As a child of the 50s this conjures up memories of a far simpler although tough life. With no television, fridge, washing machine, telephone or car and no central heating just one open fire with a back boiler for hot water. Alone in my twilight years now and reflecting on a troubled life.

Chin up , anybody who remembers this show will automatically be transported back to our childhoods . As you say , a simpler time but I think better . Cherish the memories , a great memory can be a great thing but also a curse .

+Brad Brassman yes it was, growing up in the early 60's was a pleasure for me, Things really were much more simple back then, In fact If I could rewind my life , I would start at around 1962, everything was just perfect for me, living in a back to back two up two down, great big fire blazing in the winter evenings. great music too.

I do understand what some mean I used to think as a 17 year old listening in with my Grandmother on a Winter Sunday afternoon oh not this again ugh But looking back now as an adult of 59 I realize it was nostalgia then for her an elderly lady in her eighties bringing back memories of times long gone. And strange to think im now nearing 60 and im lookin back remembering that time from Autumn Winter of 1983 listening to this radio programme with my dear old Grandmother who is sadly like my parents long gone but its brought memories of happy times my nostalgia I guess. And my must say Sing Something simple obviously brought a lot of pleasure and happiness to a lot of people especially some elderly who had no immediate family or loved ones and spent Sunday afternoons and other days alone. And gave them comfort and joy

I have memories of this back in my youth in the late 80s, early 90s. It was a foggy Sunday evening and it was an ironing evening for my mum. Life seemed so much better and simpler than ugly complex fast paced life these days.

Wow a true memory trigger from the bygone years. I am 61 now and Remember the Sunday afternoon with Mum and Dad; they reading the People and News of the World as I re-read the Beano. Sunday roast was 1:30 so we readied for supper which was afternoon tea and rhubarb and custard or Mums Baked custard; thence up for bath before bed- wonder years in deed: a thousand thanks for the memory of happy and innocent days.😊

Sing something simple started in 1959 first on Friday night at 8 PM it moved to six o clock on Sunday in 1960 where it stayed for seven years until 1967 when radio 2 took over than it moved to seven o clock from 1974 till 1979 it was moved around in the schedule from 1979 onwards it moved back to sundays first at 50clock than to 430 where it stayed until its end in 2001

The Cliff Adams Singers were really good, but some of what they were called upon to sing was criminal. That is quite possibly the worst version of 'Green Door' ever recorded.
