It was great to see the in flight controller view of the camera, I had tried to climb a mountain with the same drone and it wasn't changing the elevation above the ground just the takeoff point. Was thinking of bouncing the downward obstacle avoidance halfway up to re establish elevation as well as bump up my limits so I can clear some power lines, this video inspired me and helped a lot establishing a gameplan👍 mine was trying to limit me lol.

The wind, may have played a role. The mini 3 is a 2s Li Ion battery bird. It lacks the power of a larger batteries in the Mavic 3. The idle speed is much smoother in a larger bird.

Beautiful location. You were using ND filters to slow your shutter speed, do you use that by default on a sunny day or was there something particular about the location? Also, what frame rate were you using on the drone camera and the Pocket 2, curious how that all works together in your editing timeline.
@DadRandom

I understand the dilemma, I started with FCPX because it’s a one time buy rather than paying Adobe forever. I’m struggling with the correct use of ND filters vs. color correction in post. I think it’s a never ending journey.

Not sure if you knew, but 400’ above the pilot is the maximum allowed height you can fly your drone.
@DadRandom
@DadRandom Жыл бұрын
+mrjiveturkey of course the altimeter reflects the takeoff point. As I follow the terrain, the altitude increases as well as the height of the terrain. That being said, the altimeter says 380, 400 the AGL is never above that. How do I know this? I’ve flown this area and route many times. I’ve studied the route on Google maps as well. You should check out the route. I will drop the location for you. Thanks for the advice
@DadRandom
@DadRandom Жыл бұрын
+mrjiveturkey this location is AGL 100 maybe within 500 feet of the terrain. At the height of this mountain, I can fly 399 feet above it. It’s AGL based on proximity to the ground or structure.

Hey! I'm another Southern Utah (Cedar City) guy here with a Mini 3 Pro! Just picked mine up a couple weeks ago and I'm having a ton of fun getting to learn the various nuances with it. Question for ya though: I've noticed mine tops out at 400ft max. If I'm flying up against a cliff/gradually increasing hillside, will that then reset the height parameters? Obviously, we have some incredible terrain here in UT that I want to explore and would prefer to not always have to scramble up loose steep hillsides on foot, haha. But I don't want to just be limited to 400ft, especially when I'm in the middle of nowhere without any potential hazards. Hopefully this height restriction can be manipulated a little bit via various terrain changes. Let me know if it does indeed work that way. I haven't tried it yet, but that would totally make sense, since there are significant elevation changes all around us.
@gibsonrocker17
@gibsonrocker17 Жыл бұрын
BTW, I figured it out. I just had my settings set to 400ft max from when I set everything up initially so I wouldn't accidentally go over that limit. But clearly, with our topography out here, it's best to just observe 400ft AGL and have the capability to clear cliffs, hillsides, mesas, etc. I'd totally be interested in meeting up sometime with ya and gaining some pointers if you'd be up for it. I'm sure I could learn a ton from you since I'm so new to this hobby. I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far!! I'll send you an email so you have my info (Brandon) if you'd like to meet up sometime either down your way or over here in Cedar.
@DadRandom
@DadRandom Жыл бұрын
I fly under 400 feet AGL that includes up the sides of high areas. Keep close to the terrain and you will never be too high. Planes dont fly next to cliffs. 400 feet AGL 1000 foot tower or mountain = 1399 foot altitude limit - 500 feet away from it. Stand on the base of the mountain, fly to the top or whatever you feel safe at. Fly within your limits. BABY STEPS

Weird it gives you a warning for being above max altitiude i always thought it was done with a laser at the ground and your barely above it i think FAA regulations are 400ft above the ground even on mountains not sea level so odd the drone gives a warning anyway when it shouldnt.
