Used to chat with Big cliff in Dunstable back in the day he was shot mentally to be honest by then He drank in a few local boozers but used to hide away in the corner to avoid any bother Was living like a someone homeless but I’m sure he actually had a flat in the town Always gave him a few quid and he was nothing but humble in return Sorry I couldn’t have done more really

Stumbled on this video and the name Ciff Field as a kid. Glad I watched this Vid as it saved me racking my brains. CF was a face in Dunstable-Luton area and also recalled he might have fought Cassias Clay as well as a few others. Well know for his ability to get cut.Too may holes in my recollection of CF, but this video did help me recall a lot I had forgotten and new stuff.Like everything, it’s all in there, just needs a a few reminders to unload more. Spanking Lenny McLean would have caused a mega sensation. To do it twice would have really been a big deal. Video was a bit sad, Boxing and boxers has always been a tale of ripping off people like Cliff Field in a mugs game.

A very sad story in truth he was a man who was used by others. He had potential but just never got the rub of the green. He was susceptible to being cut limited him in the professional fighter. He fought on the so called illegal fighting circuit proving himself the top man but he didn't get the accolades he was due because Lenny McLean was in with most of the top gangsters and looked the part. Feilds 11 wins where against guys like Billy Winter 11-23, Jack Coats 2-5, Charlie White 7-7, His best win is probably Dennis Avoth who retired 22-20. Feilds was an INCREDIBLY low level pro, Yet was king of the unclinced circut, which just goes to show how terrible unclined fighters such as Mclean where.
