I am 72 years old now, born 1952, this song was the first pop song I heard from the radio that I really liked. I was really young about 6-7 years old then. Since English is not my native language (I am Thai), I did not understand the lyrics at all, yet the tune, the voice captivated me.

Whoever coined to phrase "the good old days", probably never realized just how true that would be, considering the times that we are living through these days. Memories..my Dad used to pile us all into the car (no seatbelts in those days!) and just drive us down the coast. I remember long sunny school holidays. There was five of us, and we would literally be sitting on top of each other in the back seat. He would be singing this to us and we would all be joining in, just loving it. The words really resonate with me now and while I love this memory, it also makes me sad. Everything seemed to be so straight forward to us as youngsters but now realise how tough it must have been for Mum and Dad. I still miss them both so much.
