Love your videos, some hunters gave us the tip of using paracord to tie up quarters while working to separate them from carcass, helps lighten the load. I now carry paracord for that. Another tip they gave us is build a ledge with rocks before rolling the bull, helps stop the carcass from rolling down the mountain and stops the bull in a better more level position to get after it. Keep em coming, love your tips

1985 - I shot a whitetail here in New Brunswick, Canada. I also worked in a meat packing plant - knew how to bone out meat. On the third day - I nicked myself. 208 #'s of boned out meat. Nicest meat I ever tasted. 3 weeks later - I was in bed with Mono for a month. I have used bags and then gloves since - and a right hand steel mesh glove. Left handed here! Never had an issue since.

Sewing the mouth... so ugly with mouth open and bloody. Closed and clean, beautiful. I subbed and this is the first video I've watched of yours. I'm binge watching this weekend. Learned a lot from just one video. Thanks

So is there a reason why no knives are dedicated to the kill kit? I have a replaceable blade knife that I just bought just for field dressing. I'm building my kill kit right now and I intend to have that knife and replacement blades stay in that bag, is that a bad idea?

I have a knife on me all the time (it goes clipped in my pocket or in sheath right when I wake up when guiding, same with earplugs around my neck) , and I also keep a smaller one - typically a Havalon in my bino harness. So it would be overkill in the kit. My only caution on having your field dressing knife in your pack, in a kill kit bag- I periodically would run into situations, never on purpose, in some hell hole with a wounded bull/buck… then dead animal… 2hrs from my pack. Being able to gut a bull right now - scramble back to pack then camp, to then return in morning to quarter and pack, is great. Having to spend a ton of time getting back to your pack/knife then to animal is frustrating. Hahaha been there. Good luck, hope that helps 👊

@@CliffGray thank you, and of course I watched the knife video after I left the comment haha. I'm trying to build my kill kit into a small chest bag (actually for fly fishing) so that if I shoot something I could just throw it on and start tracking which is why I was thinking of keeping the replaceable knife in the bag, and I'll still have another one around my neck. If buying quarter bags, is there anything wrong with just going with elk size and using them for smaller game instead of buying deer size and elk?

Pictures with red blood tend to detract from the event. I do my best to avoid blood and guts.
