I produced this track for Cliff, a great memory for me! He gave me a good budget to do a nice string arrangement. Being classically trained, I went for it! The session at Henry Wood Halls was very smooth! The record came out v well, in my estimation, quite majestic! (Great mixing by Keith Bessey)… aaah, those were the days PS you can hear my string arrangement (plus a French horn!). The great drummer, Graham Jarvis, is on this session, who sadly passed away a year later…

I don't remember this song at all and it took an accidental watching of RJ tv yesterday in the Philippines for me to see and hear this for what I am sure is the first time I was 35 when Cliff released this track and I was an avid listener to BBC radio 1 and 2. I assume my music tastes have mellowed in the years since then as heavy metal sounds have given way to more lyrical music.

I'm so sorry that your marriage didn'tlast. With respect, all the slow-dancing in the world doesn't mean a thing. The fact that, ",,it didn;t last", is also indicitive that your love was NOT "As deep as the ocean". My husband married me 2 weeks before my 20th birthday (I'd known him, as my best friend's brother, since I was 14 & he was a few years older than I but he never treated me with anything but respect). He also encouraged me to be the best I could be, with Christ at the centre of our relationship & he also encouraged me to marry AFTER I'd graduated with my BSc(at 19, just before our wedding). We emigrated to California just 6 months after our wedding as he'd been "head-hunted" by an American-based, international aerospace company. It was he who got more than he bargained for as I became my health took a nosedive which continued & am now terminally ill. He would lay down his life for me if he could & I adore him. We have just celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary & don't know how much time we have left together. No slow-dancing, just a Christ-centered marriage which has withstood illness, the death of two children & an undying love for God & eachother...........

I live in the US and didn't discover your music until 2018 and it was at a time in my life when I really needed it. Ocean Deep was one of the first songs I came across and I couldn't stop listening to it after that. Definitely in my top 10 all time favorite songs. I honestly don't know how it didn't reach #1.
