+Crown Academy of English Hi Crown - Thanks for listening and watching! ^_^ And yea...the sheep have bigger priorities. lol! It wasn't too windy. I turned on a fan and filmed it in my living room in front of a green screen. : P This video was made up of free royalty-free stock footage + my cheesy green screen attempts. I've been practicing using green screens, and hopefully I'll be able to do it a little better next time. =)

***** It was great, it goes well with the Irish theme! My grandmother was Irish (from Kilkenny) so I guess it's in my blood. Unfortunately, I have never visited Ireland myself and I don't think going to my local Irish pub really counts :D

+Nicole Patrick Thank you Nicole! I'm happy that you like my videos! : D I really like that dress too...It's one of my favorite dresses!! They no longer sell it, but I bought it off of the website, yesstyle.com. I love that website!! They sell a lot of Asian clothing styles, which is great for those who are petite. A lot of my clothing has come from that website. : D I think their skirts and dresses tend to be a little bit too short, so it can be a little tricky trying to buy things without trying them on... But I still love the clothing on there! ^_^

There are three 6/8 tunes that I don’t think were ever meant to be played as jigs. Fanny Power, Mist On The Mountain and Cliffs of Moher. In Cliffs of Mohrr the A part represents the wind over the cliffs and if you slow down a lot it starts to sound like wind. Give me your hand is another 6/8 tune that I don’t think was meant to be a jig. Just my two cents. Think of the Jazz tune Caravan. The beginning of that tune is the wind in the desert.

Sorry for how weird this sounds, but you've been a great creative help to me. This last Tuesday, My Dungeons and Dragons group was three players down so I added a Bard NPC to help them out. His name was Fiddlestyx and I used your KZbin clips to add flavor when he played. It went over so well. So thank you for your marvelous playing. From audio alone, they got the charm you possess. Meanwhile, I watched the videos from the corner of my eye and kept a grin on my face. Thanks for what you do.

@alexv33578 жыл бұрын
If so, it wasn't by all that much. Her hand movements seem quite natural, fast but not sped up (which is very distinctive) and they seem to correspond to the notes she's playing, so I think that she's just good at what she does.
@briancrehan97576 жыл бұрын
Slow down. These are clare tunes. Try listen to where the old clare fiddlers like Bobby Casey put the bowing accents and slurs. Not mad on the backing. Tones of potential here though. 👍
@pinkitypink62466 жыл бұрын
Brian Crehan yes, since slowing myself down after coming back to play after long absence a great difference is made. If you can't do it slowly you can't do it properly.

+Gunja King Yeah, the background footage that I'm playing at is at the Cliffs of Moher, and the rest of the footage is made up of royalty-free video clips of Ireland. I used a green screen to put myself there, which ended up looking a little cheesy, but it was a lot of fun to make. lol! ^_^
@briancrehan97577 жыл бұрын
while I recognise obvious talent I have to point out that stylistically these tunes aren't played exactly right. As a fiddler player leaning toward a West Clare style of playing (where these tunes come from) the playing is too hard and rigid. The key to Clare tunes is long slurred notes with a loose relaxed style. Just voicing my opinion.
@pinkitypink62466 жыл бұрын
Nope tarzan, Brian is correct. They are rhythmically wrong, hard to listen to if you know this kind of music properly. Not dissing the girls ability to play violin but the interpretation of these tunes is all wrong.
@pinkitypink62466 жыл бұрын
And if Brian is of same stock as junior he would know what he is talking about. I've been playing on and off for years and wasn't getting my rhythm quite right until I began playing a few of juniors tunes. They have it right. No, no harm to her, and if there's people like it they like it but that's you tube for you.
@briancrehan97576 жыл бұрын
Pinkity Pink aye juniors tunes slow you right down. You can do so much with them that speed isn't even needed most of the time. Yeah I'm of juniors stock. Thanks for the kind words 😊
@poopy2010tative6 жыл бұрын
Brian Crehan How would anybody really know...Tunes written before recordings existed are subject to the interpretation of each generation...Katy is one in a long line.
@briancrehan97576 жыл бұрын
poopy2010tative not nessecerly. For instance the music Willie Clancy and junior Crehan played could be argued to be similar to the way garret Barry played them seem as juniors grandmother was a relation of Barry's thus they would know how Barry would have played tunes he composed such as I buried my wife and danced on her grave, music in the Glen etc. Irish Music passed down by ear from one musician to the next is how we can replicate how the old musicians played. Stylistically features of my music would be similar to juniors and in turn his would be similar to the caseys who taught him and so on and so fourth. That's where the issue of classical musicians picking up a book or a stage recording of trad causes issues as it breaks the line carrying the likes of garret Barry's music. While katy is very talented nd produces sweet music styliscaly it isn't reflective of the area and style where the tunes come from.
