I like the nuance in this one. Jordan was a young man. He had problems caused, at least, by a turbulent past. The popular idea is that as adults, we are ultimately responsible for our actions and their consequences. I don't deny this, but there's several lives lived before adulthood in which our hearts and minds are formed and the conditions are largely out of our control and often levied upon us without consent. He became a threat and was handled as one. We can condemn his actions while also feeling sympathy for him having had ended up that way.

I’ll preface this by saying that I love your channel and your music. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos and really appreciate everything you do. But I have to admit that I personally wish you didn’t want to make a song standing by this guy. I do agree with you that he should have been acquitted, but I think it is a gray area on whether the force was excessive, and the reason you and many others feel motivated to make a hero out of him (rather than any of the many other vigilante heroes we have here in America) is because the media is trying to divide us by focusing on controversial figures like Luigi Mangione and Daniel Penny. There’s no reason we have to be a part of their game and lean hard into our “camp” for whether a controversial figure was right or wrong for what they did
@aaronflinner643111 сағат бұрын
I think he’s doing a good thing by putting the reality of American history, current history, into tradition music form. This is something that has been done in many cultures, and in American culture, to help preserve the stories that teach the lessons we learn as a nation in a way that helps us remember. The stories are kept alive through this.
@danvankouwenberg723410 сағат бұрын
I have to disagree. We have to call out these political prosecutions. I'm not sure Daniel Penny would have been considered a hero 20 years ago, but these days most men are fine seeing vulnerable people being harassed and beaten in these cities. So relative to most men these days, what he did was courageous and selfless. He was prosecuted because he is Euro American and Neeley is not. So we should in my opinion celebrate when an innocent person goes free, while we are sad that a troubled man lost his life.
@CliftonHicksbanjo9 сағат бұрын
Women and children were in danger; one man fought to protect them, and for his trouble was thrown in jail. On the day that man was exonerated, I wrote a song about what happened. Everything in my song is factual.
@aaronflinner64317 сағат бұрын
@@CliftonHicksbanjo I’m with you brother. A man threatening women and children is still a dangerous person even if they do have troubles that can be blamed on a hard life. There is never a situation where a person can say that a man was justified in making death threats to fellow humans who had never done him harm. He was an aggressor, while Penny was a shield to the innocent. Anyway, I agree it’s very sad that a man’s life ended this way. However, it was an unfortunate consequence of his own actions.
