What kind of banjo is this? It looks different. Doesn't have the metal. And sounds softer or maybe that's just because you're not using picks?

Thanks for writing. That is an early 2000s reproduction of an 1840s William Boucher banjo. It was made by Terry Bell. Mr. Bell is no longer building, and his banjos are now highly sought after. The closest being made today can be ordered at www.GardnersDulcimer.com

I like the nuance in this one. Jordan was a young man. He had problems caused, at least, by a turbulent past. The popular idea is that as adults, we are ultimately responsible for our actions and their consequences. I don't deny this, but there's several lives lived before adulthood in which our hearts and minds are formed and the conditions are largely out of our control and often levied upon us without consent. He became a threat and was handled as one. We can condemn his actions while also feeling sympathy for him having had ended up that way.
