Interesting to see the changes in the glaciers since I climbed (most of the 3000ers) back in the early '70s. Also interesting is the amount of gear you guys use today. Enjoyed your video... thanks.

I’m very much a novice so I wouldn’t read too much into my gear!

@@nick_kowalski_film Thanks Nick... My most memorable climb in NZ was a South ridge North ridge grande traverse of Mt. Cook - and continuing on to Tasman etc., then off the ridge and down the Fox. The views of the Pacific from the summit of Cook at sunrise were really fantastic... Cheers.

Hi Nick, amazing trip. I've been enjoying your videos. After watching your trip up the hooker glacier, I felt inspired, so I packrafted my way up the lake to have a closer look. Cheers mate.

Ahh cool, we said we needed packrafts for that, horrible walking around the edge!
@JoshuaJohnsonOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
@@nick_kowalski_film yeah I had wondered how that was. It looked pretty unkind from the packraft. Is that a very common route, the way you guys went? I'd like to go back another time with some friends and proper glacier gear and have a look up the Hooker as well. Thanks again for the inspiration.

@@JoshuaJohnsonOutdoors yeah as far as I understand you have to do it that way since all the rock slides etc

Which descent route did you take? Down The Ramp? Thinking of this for October. Many thanks, Jamie
@nick_kowalski_film2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie, yep we went down the ramp
@highwayexit2 жыл бұрын
Did you have to climb back down that steep icy wall?
@nick_kowalski_film Жыл бұрын
No we went down ‘the ramp’ which is another common route

Here's what you do. Ring Alfie Speights, get him to drop you off at the top for a look and some pickies then fly back out, have a Gin.
