Climbing Mount Fuji in the offseason! We caught an amazing weather window in November and took advantage of it to have an amazing summit experience on Fuji. Everything worked in our favor, and the ascent was an inspiring experience for me and especially John, who not only had a once in a lifetime climb, but it was actually his first mountain! JaYoe!

thank you for taking me up this hill!, (Mount Fuji)Like I had told you before, fighting cancer, and being on chemo all the time. I would never get to go there, or anyplace like that. but with you I get to go places I would never get to go. and that is why I want to find your patrion page and do two or three per month for your worth even more than that, I dont have a lot to give, but your worth it Matt, and never think your not!I'm on total disability, SSI. so I dont have a bunch, but what i have i want you to have some as well. I wish I could do...25.00 per month, but that cant happen. so sorry my friend! keep posting as it's your sight, and Johns only in Japan that I watch, but yours is so much more interesting, since you are hitting on massively more area than John does.

A bit different than the approach to Everest Matt but interesting nonetheless. Beautiful day great video. It's good you have John with you, climbing solo is rarely a good plan. Hard lines on the drone fail, but better a machine fail than any of you. Thanks for letting me ride along in your backpack, KBO brother!

What a great video. Thank you. Since you met John you have come alive. I can see how God's Grace is working in your life...in one of your previous videos you said to Annie you would only go up Mount Fuji if it was sunny. Not only did God give you a sunny day to climb it but He gave you 2 companions to go with, one being John. Shame about breaking the drone propellers and tearing your rain trousers - I hope the propellers can be easily replaced and the trousers can be patched up. God's Grace also worked in your life in another video where you were quite lonely and wanted some company, then that evening you had a feast with a family in the "Fish and Chip shop" which sells no fish and chips, and the following morning they gave you a boat trip. Bless you. Paul.

Hey Matt. Enjoyed your video! I found it because I was trying to research going up Fuji in the last week of October/first week of November because I will be in Japan for business then. Any ideas how I can find a partner in Japan? If I find a partner, is the route easy enough to follow, such that we won't need a guide? What kind of footwear did you use? Thx!

Now this is my new favorite JaYoe adventure. We stream onto our tv so we can all watch together, and the view was breathtaking - in visual as well as drama. I was worried like any mom when I’d see over your shoulder and worry about the altitude. Worried you’d stumble when talking to us. Of course, we wouldn’t be watching the vlog if you had. Your an John’s joy at the top was how I would feel. Am so glad you mentioned that you probably should have kept an eye on John’s decent a bit better - but the excitement of the day and the way you respected his personal/private experience made this understandable. We Love you kids. When Mike is in worst pain, I just have to say, “Matt uploaded another one,” and he immediately smiles. Don’t change and JaYoe, Kiddo.

Lovely video, Matt. Were any of the shelters open, in spite of it being out of season, in case the weather closes in? Did the Mavic freak out because of the wind? The altitude should be fine at 3776 meters, the height of Fuji-san as the max ceiling height of the Mavic is about 5000 m.

Did he just whoooo! on top of Mount Fuji? In the face of the sublime he does an In-Your-Face dance. It reminds me of Mark Twain's book "Innocents Abroad" when the American tourists all rushed to cut off a piece of everything they saw to bring home to show their friends. Even when I was 12 years old, if my Boy Scout troop had walked to the top of Mount Fuji and someone had acted like Matt, we would all have wanted to throw him in the volcano. Sometimes we must all ask ourselves: "Am I really adding oil? Really?"

fuji is an easy climb... i did it in a day easy... but up towards the summit it can get steep and icy.. and you have to make sure you can ascent with good footing... if its too icy, you should have a pair of crampons.. i didnt have any.. but it was unseasonably clear up there that day.
