You can get a one day pass the day before. Get to sleep early and start your hike at night @ 10 pm. By the time you enter the park it's @ midnight and you can make it to the top as the sun rises.

Hamburger247 i didnt have much trouble until i was at approximately 12,500 feet. For me anyway from 12.5k ft upwards it did become difficult. And around 13,500 i was having difficulty with the altitude just feeling nauseous and my head was throbbing.

You might want to note that is hike is not the usual route from Whitney Portal that most folks take. You came from Crabtree Meadows.

Yes, I got a permit, too. I did not win the lottery but then on May 1st I went online and bought an unclaimed permit for August 29-30. AWESOME.

I will be finishing the AT summer 2017. I have other hikes planned before then preventing me from getting there sooner. Superior Hiking Trail thru hike and Patagonia then finish the PCT.

I did it in one day but I was thru hiking the PCT so I came up from the backside which is a shorter hike.

RIP to the single mother of 2 who fell 100’, spent 2 freezing nites alone, was found & died from injuries. Doesn’t look like a place to hike alone or without some sort of tracking device.

Bob Saget nah. There's no risk involved. Climbing involves grades where there's consequence to losing your footing and taking a plunge.

Paul Hutton idk where you live but in colorado our two deadliest mountains are class 3. Longs peak has killed 54 people and it's considered easy class 3.
