i hope everyone is doing well!! things are pretty busy here as i'm delving into the wonderful world of CELL CULTURE in the lab, which is stressful ~~ what a treat it was to go to castle rock with my brother on a thursday morning. i'm serious when i say that for the entirety of this trip, i saw ONE other person, which made me feel extra special and safe (you'll see me sometimes donning my mask - i was scared of breathing on the rock)
now that i'm in SF, climbing is going to look a lil different. i no longer have a climbing wall, the gyms here are still closed, which means the ability to climb outside safely is going to be p important if i wanna continue to climb!

I think I already said it but I'll say it again, I am so into your videos, I follow quite a few bouldering channels and yours is my favourite by far. They are really entertaining in so many aspects, I love the little captions, the light athmosphere you give them, the music is always on point and to be completely honest it's a pleasure to see you struggle and fumble because as someone who still have a lot of progress to make, this is quite refreshing and also in my opinion what makes bouldering so fun and you encapture that very well. Congrats on grad school! Great vid as usual and will check Backcounty. Castle Rock is wicked cool and my first time stayed on the trail closest to the main entrance (to the left). It was my first ever intermittent fast day and energy was still high. Since you’ll be there for awhile, try Yabo’s roof (V5-fail). Eventhough a cave start climb, to which I know you love 😝, it was fun to try and first time putting a deep roof knee bar. Have fun at school and even more fun climbing.👍

Hey Jenn! Exciting for you to move to the Bay Area! I'm currently a student out in Illinois, but my home is the bay. Welcome to Old school grading I suppose, it's the standard here. There's actually a couple of betas for making Mrs. magoo consistent, my favorite of which being a right heel onto the start hold to establish your hands on those top slopers, which you reach to from a high right foot like you had. Those tick marks are for a traverse into Mrs. magoo that's a V3+ btw. It's a classic, but many people actually currently regard Mrs. magoo as a v3, because the slopers are getting so polished. Couple of recommendations for routes out there off the beaten path a bit; the first is a place called the office. it's like 4-5 routes of V3-4, and all are super lines, and much fresher rock because it was found much more recently. The other is Indian Cracks, which has like 15 routes, almost all V0-V4. some really pretty lines, and some of the only super physical and not slopery problems in the area. Both are quiet-ish on weekends, making them ideal for those days you can't get up at 6 am to hit the rock when it's best. I've been watching your videos for a little while now, but I never really had perspective on your climbing, because I have never been to SoCal for climbing. Seeing you on the nostalgic walls of my youth is awesome for me, because I know how hard and awkward those routes are, especially for people who've never seen this style and this sheer quantity of slopers before. Keep at it, and eventually you'll grow to love the area! I know I do.

Castle rock is my favorite!! It's been a lifesaver ever since it re-opened. :) you gotta try the slap (v4), it's just a bit farther down from the magoos, and sticky rice on the indian rock side!! All of those are super fun problems :) Also you should check out turtle rock in marin!! lots of fun easy moderates, plus a cool traverse!!

Castle Rock definitely has some cool climbing. If it's not too crowded and you like to top rope at all you should check out The Great Roof on Goat Rock. It's a really amazing sandstone feature that's not too difficult. Congrats on the move.

Marcos Ponce i recommend it if you don’t care much for audio!! the video quality can’t be beat for the size and price of the camera, but the audio is lacking and it doesn’t have an input for an external microphone. if that’s not an issue for you, i highly recommend it!!

pinkorulez hi!! i’m wearing the la sportiva solution comps, and i think they’re alright for slab! firm enough to stand on little edges and soft enough to stand up on volumes. i know aggressive shoes are marketed more for overhung climbing, but these get the job done just fine!
