5.10d = V1, so it's a good beginner route after you've been climbing in the gym a couple of months and can get up the V1s there. "offwidth" just means it's much easier than normal pitch if you have normal width hands. The high altitude means the air has less resistance, so you move much quicker than at sea level.

Good luck leading a 5.10d outside after climbing in a gym for a couple of months

@@brianrodman1033 Beginners don't typically lead anyway so i'm not sure what your point is. Pretty common saying that you should be able to climb 2 grades above anything you try to lead.

This video gives good insight into the approach to Broadway ledge via the raps at chasm view thanks! gnarly send boiz, also if you had to bail what was your back up plan if your gear was up at chasm view?

I appreciate it! If we had to bail we were going to hike allllll the way back to our gear 🤣

Are you using leukotape to make your crack gloves?

I’ve only used the Ocun crack gloves and i love the convenience of them! Maybe a little grippy too. But they have no thumb protection.

Would you recommend the ‘chasm view’ Bivy? Or would you have preferred to camp at the base of the boulder field and come up the chimney pitches to Broadway?
@grahmtheoverstoker10 ай бұрын
Having now done both I’d totally recommend the chasm view bivy over the mills glacier bivy. But it must fit your objective. Here’s some pros and cons: Pros: No north chimney The raps are clean No marmots You’re sleeping at a higher elevation than half the route If topping out you get back to your gear faster (if you left any) Protected from rock fall Our specific site was super flat and nice There’s less parties up there so availability is less of an issue Cons: You must topout to get back to your gear or you have to do a crazy long hike (if you left gear) It’s kinda contrived to rap in and skip the bottom half of the diamond You still have to do some sketchy walking across broadway and going over the north chimney There nearest water is pretty far away (unless there’s snow to melt) It’s almost 1000’ higher than the glacier so you could get altitude sickness, we didn’t but we could hardly sleep whereas when I stayed on the glacier I slept pretty good. You need to carry two ropes to rappel the chasm view road You don’t get to talk about the north chimney online
@cbrass610 ай бұрын
@@grahmtheoverstoker Would you ever consider doing it in a single, big day push, without the bivy gear and lighter packs? and if so, would you still hike up and do the chasm view raps or go north chimney?
@grahmtheoverstoker9 ай бұрын
Absolutely! That would be my preferred style but I haven’t due to fitness/acclimation. And if I did do it in a day I would approach from the lake and do the north chimney.

Great job, how do you get around the music copyright?
@grahmtheoverstoker10 ай бұрын
Thanks! KZbin will let you use most copyrighted music but the ad revenue from the video then goes to the music producers. A couple of my videos aren’t allowed in certain countries due to the music but that’s the only issue I’ve ran into

Thanks, I noticed a year ago facebook was allowing me to use copyright stuff but it is nice to know KZbin is also doing it.@@grahmtheoverstoker
