Hi guys welcome to aclaireytale!!!
In this vlog, we hike up the highest mountain in England!! We conquer Scafell Pike in the Lake District. This is in western Lake District and we go up via Wasdale Head and Wast Water. I start off with some facts about Scafell Pike, how high it is. I show you some old photos of my parents doing the same hikes! I was definitely inspired by my parents to do this peak. We climb up Scafell Pike and I bring you along! I show you the terrain and how long it takes to go up and down scafell pike. I film the peak of the mountain, the highest point in England! We climb back down again and I have a hiking boots disaster! Scafell Pike well and truly did them in!! I give a summary of the hike.
We then head over to the Wasdale Inn for a well deserved drink and food! You can see Great Gable, Lingmell and Yewbarrow all around us and camping grounds, tents etc.
We then drive to the Bridge Inn B&B where we are staying the night! It's really cute and perfect for the night to do Scafell Pike. I definitely recommend it for a place to stay near scafell pike. We shower and clean ourselves up and spend the night in the pub playing cards. The next morning we have an amazing made to order breakfast! We check out of the hotel and drive home via Hawkshead! We have a lovely few hours looking around Hawkshead. It's a tiny town but is so cute. We go to the little ice cream shop, Sarah Nelson's Grasmere gingerbread (aka best gingerbread in the world), shops and art shops and then it's time to leave! I pick up a Scafell Pike pin on the way home to commemorate our climb! Nice family walk up Scafell Pike to get your daily steps in 😂 (good move by your mum & dad to meet you in the bar afterwards - 😂) it certainly blew open your pipes. My wife’s youngest brother (he’s 62 now) did the four peaks challenge in 24 hours a few years ago for charity. Simon back to his funniest best with his “someone keeps moving the top comment” 😂 Well deserved pack lunch at the top. Two decades is a long time for a pair of walking boots. You got your monies worth out of those. 😂😂 It was an well earned pub tea when you got down. I think an alcoholic drink would have been on the cards for me. Those playing cards lasted longer than your boots. 😂 Perhaps a massage at the Low Wood Bay should have been on the cards for the morning after. Those ice creams in Hawkshead helped take the stiffness away. 😂 A little too energetic for me but fun watching someone else doing it.

Well done you two! I did Scafell in 2016 and found it soooo difficult! Climbed with a bunch of New Zealanders who were basically like mountain goats and legged it up. I fared almost as badly as your boots. Used this as therapy so thanks Claire 😂😂😂 looks like you had a lovely trip xxx

I loved watching you and Simon hike up this peak. I was very impressed with your hiking abilities, it was no small feat!! When I saw the short snippet of your hiking shoes in the beginning of the video I was worried that you had to hike in your socks. You were so lucky to have an extra pair. I was also glad to learn about a different part of the Lake district. Thanks for sharing your trip and I hope all your regular viewers will watch it too!!

Love love love the Lake District, we’ve done Helvellyn twice and my husband has done Scafell when he was in university. We love Hawkeshead too, always go for cake and a cup of tea in Minstrel’s Gallery. Look forward to the next vlog 😊

Hi Claire , I absolutely adore the lake district. A friend moved up to Penrith many years ago so I've been so lucky to have a tour guide up there. Everywhere is so stunning, Wast Water is a favourite as its so rugged & different but i really love Buttermere & Crummock too.. I've never personally done a climb, bit of a dodgy back but lots of easier flat walks. Loved watching you climb up to Scafell so much. Wow, its so just so breathtaking, scenery is truly off the chart!!!! Those views Claire, you're on top of the world!!! And what a fab b&b and pub you stayed in . :) x

Hi Claire. What a 5 hour journey. Good for you and Simon. That final peak looked super scary with all the sharp rocks, no path or railing. I would have gotten to the top and been stuck/frozen. Not able to get down due to my fear and anxiety of heights 😅😂😂.Such a beautiful view, though. OMG, your boots 🤣🤣 and your parents cracking up at them. Hilarious. Your B&B was so nice and quaint. Hahha I know, cracked me up too! Thank goodness I had my trainers! We cheated on Snowdon haha and took a train but the top seemed very different to Scafell. Scafell was full of these loose rocks and definitely felt more challenging than what we saw of Snowdon but I can't fully say. Thank you for watching!

Well done on your climb I love the Lake District haven’t been there since before I got married so must be 1985 x My nephew has just done the 42 peak challenge he did 30 mountains in 29 hours and 44 minutes I am so proud of him unfortunately he couldn’t do any more as he’s got an injured knee x

Interesting, growing up in Virginia the tallest mountain in my state is, Mount Rogers at 5,729 ft. As I got older I got to see the Rockies (much taller) and finally Mt. Whitney in CA at 14,505 the tallest mountain in the contiguous U.S. I hasten to add I have never climbed any of the ones higher than Mt. Rogers. That said, your mountain with all the rocks and steepness looks like a much tougher climb so way-to-go to you and Simon. Really enjoyed the vlog and a great song for the top.
