I study Clinical Medical Practice at UP. I think it’s an amazing course if you’re trying to decide if you want to study further into medicine. It provides a great foundation of knowledge and understanding, as it is very practical and in-depth. Since it is so new, we have the opportunity to create more opportunities for budding health practitioners.

I agree with you completely. Therefore my proposal on a career path. We need adapt for a South African healthcare system. Hopefully, the Professional Association of Clinical Associates of SA can advocate for career path that will improve health outcomes and greater job satisfaction.

Hey there, I am thinking about doing a degree in BCMP, however I wanted to get into the pharamaceutical companies as a clinical research associate, overseeing trials and all that. So just wondering if this degree would suffice to have a career in CRA in pharamaceticals?

Hi Dr, the (1-4) registrar program that a clinical associate can register for to specialize in Obstetrics is offered by which University? Or is it extra training by a discipline that does not entail a qualification?

This is a proposal that I am making. Currently there is no programme. I am of the opinion this should be started to have a clear career path and an improvement in remuneration. You can study at WITS for example emergency medicine but this doesn't equate a recognition in terms of salary.

@InterncomservVlog
@InterncomservVlog 3 жыл бұрын
Currently you can do post graduation courses in emergency medicine that I am aware of. I would suggest that one does an MPH and/or MBA to possibly wok towards being a hospital manager. It is not guaranteed you will be given a post but it gives you a competitive edge. Also with the MPH you can become a researcher or join an NGO at a more competitive salary. There is a process being followed to get specialization accredited by SAUCA. Check out www.sauca.co.za

Very very limited opportunities .do you know of any clinical associate that eventually became doctors ?and how did they become doctors after being a clinical associate?
@InterncomservVlog
@InterncomservVlog 3 жыл бұрын
It is true there are limited opportunities. But an option for growth would be to position oneself for a CEO position of a clinic or hospital by completing an MBA and MPH. I am aware of clinical associates getting places for medical degrees. An option would be the Graduate Entry Medical Programme. www.wits.ac.za/health/gemp/

There is a lot lately but you need a good average after completion of BCMP ,at least an average of 75% and above will likely secure you a spot. University of Pretoria currently takes more graduates than any other university .Then the other option is via GEMP through Wits , but you need to do a biology and Physics at the University level first, that can be done via UNISA or Wits.

@InterncomservVlog
@InterncomservVlog 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I would. It not about the money it about helping people and the job satisfaction you get from that. You should have 5-year plans and you can always study further to get into research or management. The salary improves dramatically in these fields. Hopefully the career pathing I suggested will be taken up by light the upcoming NHI.

R17559 is the salary after tax deduction? can a clinical associate afford to buy a house and a car though?
@InterncomservVlog
@InterncomservVlog 3 жыл бұрын
You would be eligible to purchase a five hundred thousand rand house and you can also get a subsidy which will help. I bought my first car for R25000 ( second hand) as an intern after working for 5 months in 2000. My net salary was around R 5500. I kept that car for 8 years. But it is tough on R17500
