Clinical Exchange Review - Cardiovascular Surgery Department
Privolzhsky Research Medical University, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
From Yashvardhan Jain, 9th Semester, IHSM
I Yashvardhan Jain, studying in International Higher School of Medicine, 9 semesters. I recently completed a month-long clinical exchange at the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Privolzhsky Research Medical University (PRMU) in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. It was an invaluable experience that significantly broadened my medical knowledge and practical skills.
From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed by both the faculty and medical staff. The cardiovascular surgery team was highly skilled and professional, always eager to share their knowledge and involve students in clinical activities. I had the unique opportunity to observe a wide range of cardiovascular procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair surgeries, and minimally invasive techniques. The department emphasized patient-centered care and modern approaches, giving me valuable insight into the latest surgical techniques and postoperative care.
Outside the hospital, Nizhny Novgorod was a beautiful and historic city to explore. The local culture, combined with the warm hospitality of the people, made my stay both educational and enjoyable.
Overall, my clinical exchange at PRMU has been an eye-opening experience that will positively influence my future medical practice. I would highly recommend this exchange to any medical student looking to gain experience in cardiovascular surgery and immerse themselves in a rich cultural setting.
