Molting young blackbird with a ton of various food in the beak (earthworm, some fat beetle, possibly a dragonfly and some other stuff) and still singing, too!

I just pondered how blackbirds do the feeding during breeding, whether that might be not just for the young ones but also for the mother. ... Although the young ones alone definitely take a lot.

@@Dowlphin I have to watch it. They nest every year in our garden. Ich habe gedacht, dass sie abwechselnd Futter holen. Manchmal ist das Nest mit den Jungvögeln auch für kurze Zeit leer when the mother is looking for food as well.

@@gardentours I checked Wikipedia now and it is puzzlingly saying blackbird males, with rare exceptions, neither hatch the eggs nor feed the female, maybe just sit on/in it to guard. But how do they distinguish warming the eggs from 'merely' sitting in the nest to guard? And if they don't hatch the eggs but also don't feed the females, that would mean the female has to leave the eggs unwarmed during search for food.
