In 1995, I worked as an extra on a made for tv movie, Death in Small Doses, in Charlotte NC, directed by Sondra Locke. Starring Richard Thomas. When it came time for lunch, she went through the chow line with the crew instead of having her food sent to her trailer. I thought that was pretty cool. I got the vibe that she was trying not not be a prima donna. Directing the movie, she was accompanied by an older gentleman. He would look through the camera. Then she would look through the camera, look at him, and when he nodded, she would give the OK sign. At one time, she stood next to me on set, and I was amazed at how small she was. That was my experience with Sondra Locke.

Read Sondra's excellent autobiography. She would never have had an acting career without her best friend and husband, Gordon. One reason she didn't want to divorce him is because he would lose his medical insurance he got being her spouse. Clint was foolish to be jealous of him. It's not like Sondra and Gordon ever had sex, unlike Clint with dozens of women, none of whom were as strong and smart as Sondra, which is probably why he loved her. When Clint dies we will learn how many kids he had when they come for the reading of his will! Clint smeared Sondra in the press and the industry. When people met her they were amazed at what a kind, intelligent, down to earth woman she was. I met her several times, respected and liked her. She died too young.

My ex from 27 years ago (10 years older than me ) born right at the end of WWII lived out in California during the end of the rat pack period late 60's early 70's and was a waitress and a typical Denmark blond (parents) from Illinois. She's still pretty good looking at 79 actually. She was trying to be careful out there due to the "predators." She said it was constant and difficult but was trying to figure out what she wanted to do Hollywood that type of thing. She lasted a couple years or less came back to Illinois. She had won a couple of beauty pageants and people said she should come out to Los Angeles. Not all that unusual in that period for attractive women. She worked at a motel//hotel as a waitress in the coctail lounge. We actually visited once in the early 1990's. The rat packers hung out there sometimes and so other hollywood types would pop in and out. It wasn't one of the "main" hangouts for the ratpackers. She said Clint Eastwood popped in once and took an interest in like 1970 or early 70's. She knew he had been in Rawhide... She said that before Sandra Locke He'd come in and saw her and he spent a couple of weeks hitting on my ex pretty hard before moving on. She got hit on even in her 40's by all ages... She said she wasn't interested in him but it was flattering, but did note within a year that she heard he was with Locke and saw her. Her friends commented on his penchant for blondes... My ex was much better looking, not as skinny, more the "healthy" type, but just as blonde real. Think Inger Stevens/Kim Novak... So, road not taken for her maybe. She and I did a Highway 1 (PCH) run from San Francisco to LA in the early 90's and she reminisced. Fun trip, fun and beautiful lady...good human being, just a bit too much for me. She was always a head snapper. It was interesting that she was very mixed about looking the way she did. She said it was as much a PITA as something to be liked. It got in the way more than it did anything for her. She got tired of the male interest in her, had to learn to basically ignore it, dress herself down. She was extremely smart also and sold/underwrote specialized malpractice types of insurance. But she said her looks got her in trouble a bit when she was younger. I think something happened out in California that made her come home...

@@janjerge1484 Sondra Locke had more of an acting range than Clint Eastwood which isn’t saying much. They were better in dramas together than those ridiculous comedies. I think by Locke staying Married to Gordan is what caused Eastward not to accept their relationship. He divorced his wife finally but Locke remained married so they couldn't bring their relationship to the max. He remained true to her until he realized she wasn't about to get the divorce needed to get married. That was her downfall. He was a cad. But she stole his heart finally then crushed it. I've know women who played the victim with other men after a guy had different relationships while seeing them. They turned stone cold. Hollywood is full of them.

As to the abortions, I told Locke that whether to have children or terminate her pregnancies was a decision entirely hers.
