“Yeah I killed women and children. Killed about everything that ever walked or crawled, now I’m here to kill you little Bill.” One of the meanest lines ever spoken in a movie. Sends a chill down your spine.

English Bob was portrayed brilliantly by Richard Harris. You just can't take your eyes off him. Talk about a powerhouse of talent: Eastwood, Hackman, and Harris. No, I didn't forget Morgan Freeman, but when considering the degree of difficulty when it comes to the characters, William Munny, Little Bill Daggett, and English Bob were huge.

Could not agree more. The brilliance of Clint was that even though he was the top billed star, he let his co-stars have real character arcs and did not have to be in every scene. The conversation between Little Bill and English Bob in the jailhouse is a superb example.

I'll always remember Clint Eastwood, for, "Unforgiven". It had one of the best endings, for an academy award winning movie. "Hell of a thing, to kill a man. You take away everything he has, and everything he ever will have". "But I guess he had it coming". "We all got it coming, kid".

The writer was informed by the religious culture of the time, consciously or not. When critics began to point this out, Eastwood seemed a bit nonplused. But the old west did not share our theraputic view of the world. any more than it did the moralistic view of the Lone Ranger. series.

I was lucky enough to be an extra on an Eastwood film for 2 days at WB, at one point he was just 1ft away from me, and sadly i was petrified to look at him for fear of bothering him or something to that extent. The following day i was leaving the restroom and he popped in as i held the door open, again i froze but he turned and looked at me and said "Thank you" with his kind smile...I know this story isn't grand, but just wanted to share that he is one of the kindest people in hollywood. Big or small he treats everyone the same ^.^ A truly humble person.

Eastwood - YES! But McQueen?! I know he was extremely hyped up, - but there were way too many that were better. Franco Nero for one. Charles Bronson for two. Jean-Paul Belmondo for three. @@HexenStar in my humble opinion, Sean Connery was a lousy actor. Don’t confuse acting ability with coolness. How about Paul Newman?
@HexenStar
@HexenStar 3 жыл бұрын
@@Bokgaatjie Sean Connery was most suited for specific characters and roles. In some parts he didn't do so well, while in others - there simply could be no one better. But that wouldn't be because of the lack of talent, but because he would always imbue his characters with exactly the same traits and personality, - which would, as expected - be hit and miss. Like a certain category of actors, as he got older, - he chose his roles more carefully, which would better cater to his skills. But calling him a lousy actor is an overreaction. Sure, he cannot do everything perfectly like DENZEL...but the parts he can, - he does excel at. Just his voice alone, and his regal storytelling manner of using it - is simply unbeatable...maybe Liam Neeson...or maybe not.

As others have noted, it's truly a cool coincidence (or not?) that Bradley Cooper is caught by the camera at 00:30 watching Clint up on stage, who would later cast him in American Sniper, a film that would get him nominated for an Oscar and transform his career from mostly comedies to more serious roles.

His Westerns and Dirty Harry movies are so re-watchable. I have seen them all many times and never tire of them. Richard Harris is fantastic too - in Cromwell, The Field, and so many others. The classic manly actors like Kirk Douglas, John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, Burt Lancaster, William Holden, Gene Hackman, Anthony Quinn, Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood, Ward Bond, Lee Van Cleef, Yul Brenner, Lee J. Cobb, Ernest Borgnine -- they don't make em like that anymore. What amazes me is that Eastwood is still going.

Fascinated to see Bradley Cooper in the audience. He would’ve been 28 years old at this time and still hadn’t been the lead in any movies yet. He had a few minor rolls and some straight-to-video movies but he was certainly not famous yet. It’s kind of inspiring to see him in this candid moment, learning and eager to be better
