Clinton Portis always showed the human side of being the celebrity pro athlete. If you ever had the privilege to be in his company, he always had a smile and time to say hello. I met him at the elevator at GW hospital in 2007. He asked me why I was there? I told him to pick up my father from chemo therapy. Clinton Portis rode the elevator with me to say hello to my dad and all the staff on the floor. Everyone was so excited. My dad got special care because they thought he was personal friends with a Washington Redskins icon. Clinton Portis brought a lot of joy and hope to my family and friends.

Portis played on the most talented college team ever. As Bronco fan,I knew we got a steal,& I was at that KC game he's talking bout. But I agree with Sharpe...he had a good career,but had HOF talent. He should be known today as 1 of the NFLs greatest running backs ever.
@poundthatpavement6523 жыл бұрын
He was a really good RB with just raw talent. Just imagine what he would of been training to get better?
@poundthatpavement6523 жыл бұрын
@@BrianDaddy I do factor in the fact he got injured. He said it him self though that he doesn't like training. He could have trained if he wanted to but like he said the main thing that made him quit was losing his love for the game. You are correct anyone can train all they want but if an injury is going to happen then it is going to happen. If his love for the game would have remained as he got older he probably would have looked at training differently to stay in shape for the NFL. Once your love for any sport has gone anyone would retire.

The first and only concert I ever been to was hosted (for Free) by Clinton Portis. He had major NFL stars and rap artist coming through a small Florida town. There is no telling how much he paid but the city remembers. Id never even seen a Rolls Royce until Daunte Culpepper and Edwin James pulled up. I got to be there as a student when Gainesville high retired his #4 and I got the be there when he was inducted into the hall of fame at Miami. My English teacher Eddy Moore was also the football coach at Gainesville High and always spoke highly of Clinton Portis so did the drivers ed teacher Peggy Meadows (who would fly out to see NFL games).
