My recreation of the 1985 Italo Disco song "Faces" by Clio, produced by Roberto Ferrante. Arguably the best Italo Disco song of all time.
This one was relatively simple but still pretty complex in composition, I originally only wanted to recreate a small part of it but I decided to just do the whole thing, which was a quick process, as I completed this within about a day, minus the rendering and mastering in audacity, and the video itself.
I used a PPG wave for all of the synths here but the original uses a Crumar Bit99 from 1985 and a Korg Polysix from 1981 (which I think was also used for the synths in Eyes, another great song from Clio and Roberto), both of those I don't have in hardware form (yet) or VST form so I figured I could get away with just using a PPG to get a similar sound.
For the drums, the song uses a Linn for the kick and crashes, which I think was a sequenced sample, along with a Yamaha RX11 for the rest of the drum sounds including the other hihats. The clap and snare both have a ton of reverb and some compression which gives it that big sound.
The rest of the synths in here were just edited PPG wave presets with a lot of stereo panning and delay effects, detuning and chorus, and transposed up a little bit to match the pitch of the official song.
