Clio Williams 2 - Stored for 12 yrs - Will it start? Episode 1

Pulled my fathers Williams 2 out of hibernation today to assess the work ready for it’s full nut & bolt restoration. This is the first time it’s seen daylight in over 12yrs.
Rear wheels had to be removed to release rear brakes. Cam belt condition was inspected & engine turned over by hand prior to cranking. Auxiliary belt had to be cut due to seized alternator. Spark plugs removed and inspected, spark plug in cylinder 4 covered in oil.
Rear arches have surface rust however both inner & outer lips are present (Will probably disappear once we put a bit of heat on them). O/S sill seems complete with little to no rust, N/S sill will need to be replaced.
Underneath seems to be in great order, will update once the vehicle has been collected from storage.
Currently sat on 19 phase 1 alloys, original Williams alloys are safely tucked up at home.
This video is a lesson on how not to store a car!!!
My father has owned this Clio Williams 2 since 1998, obviously the car holds a lot of sentimental value, we are looking forward to the project and restoring it back to its original condition.
Thanks to Dai and Dayle for helping pull the Clio out of hibernation.

You have no idea how much I wanted one of these as a 17 year old in 1993. I had a 172 in 2003 but always wanted a Williams.

i have an 1.8 16v (1991) full restored with yellow bilstein and speedlines , how much do you think it's worth im from mallorca spain btw

Honestly doesn’t look too bad, clean and a polish will probably be most the exterior done and dusted.

Not too wise to start an engine after all these years / all fluids have gone bad and the engine oil has been oxidised at least. Also the cam belt might snap after so many years of no operation. Just move it to a proper garage, remove fluids, flush everything, put some fresh oil in it and then start the engine. Running the car is a different story because there is more to take care of, eg trans fluids, bushes, tires, brakes, lines etc. Nevertheless, great and rare car so it is worth the trouble to restore it!

Unless you plan on stripping the whole engine down and doing a full rebuild, there's no way i would have started that without fresh oil.
