The Fiat Punto S1600 was homologated in Group A S1600 under the number A 5609 02/01 VK on February 1, 2000 in the Kit Cars category and under the number A 5609 09/01 KS on March 1, 2001 in the S1600 category.
This category of competition does not involve stable but young drivers.
The Fiat Punto S1600 followed the evolution of the Fiat Punto series, namely a restyling of the bodywork in 2003. It will cease to be manufactured at the end of 2005. It will be replaced by the Abarth Grande Punto S2000 in 2006 .
