@kensmith8152 He showed the centurion the difference between the law, with its dictates and condemnation, and Christ's grace and the centurion knew he stood a condemned man before God But this is not the end of the story for the centurion, because later, Christ would open up the way back to God, not through the law with its dictates but through Christ, as the ultimate proxy The centurion got a glimpse of what was coming for all of humanity

Why should Christianity deserve to be portrayed positively? The crimes committed by Christians (crusades, inquisition, sexual abuse...) cannot be counted.

I used to think that also, but never lose faith that God is more than capable of turning every evil heart around for His glory The man who wrote Amazing Grace was once a slave trader, and even though it was not instant, God turns that evil man's heart around to then write a song that would be sung in much of the world to give thanks to the God who saved him! Now that's power! It might seem impossible that anything could come out of such an evil cesepool organisation such as Hollywood with its outright hatred of Christianity, but God specialises in turning evil to good if not just to show his power. Pray for Hollywood, it needs it

It's a quite a remarkable piece of acting done by the man playing the centurion that his reaction to seeing the God in the face and actions of another man makes him question his entire life and wonder whether he has been a good person or not. We see someone's reflection on their life and judgement of themselves all in under the space of a minute.

This is one of those few cinematic moments that I keep very close to my heart. This is a type of scene whose success or failure relies almost completely on self restraint . The fact that it is so perfectly handled makes it all the more admirable. The look on that Centurion's face....the honesty of that reaction is profoundly moving. I can scarcely think of another example of so much being said in so few words.
