tire tech here, its more so about the hardness of the object, a sharp flimsy knife will flex with the rubber more. Yah need a good piece of steel that won't give and bend. Depends on the tire too some have terrible sidewalls and I learned that the hard way. It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility but it would be much more viable with say a ham fork

@@James-bv4nu For these tires yes, for a bigger truck tire I doubt it would even go all the way through. Its tread, then belts and cords, then an inner rubber casing. A flat tire is only flat if it makes it past the steel or nylon belts. The inner casing is what actually holds the air.
