@@patrickdix772 I've always been under the impression that the Noisy Cricket is another "lesson" for new Agents. After it was banged through their heads in their induction tests that not all is always as it seems, the Noisy Cricket is another reminder of that. Granted it's a problem on both their heads; J was a cop and therefore should know better with any firearm even one that looks like a child's toy, and K really should've been a little bit more transparent about "if you point this at someone and fire it, they're going to have an far worse day than you think they are."
@patrickdix7723 ай бұрын
@@AlexQuill63 the thing is, people IRL have been killed by being given a gun they couldn't handle the recoil on / weren't prepared for. So for a professional like K to hand something like the noisy cricket to a novice like J without telling him about it isn't a "lesson", it's just stupid. For example, if J happened to first fire it when the recoil would actually kill him (launch him off a high drop, into something that impales him, whatever) then they just wasted a lot of time and effort selecting him for nothing. Taking him to a firing range and having him shoot it once after a warning and with pads behind him would fix this and still be a lesson on things not being as they seem. Of course, it's a comedy movie so not following gun safety on either side is often part of the joke.

This movie is one of a very small number of movies I'd consider perfect. Not necessarily flawless in every possible way. K and J are smart, competent heroes who are only held back by their personal limitations, which they overcome by the end of the movie. Edgar the man was a mean bastard, so when he became Edgar the Cockroach, there was no sympathy for his character. His motivation was clear, and his exposition was delivered in a sensible way; not beating you over the head but by giving all of it to Frank the Pug. The stakes are high, the threats are real, and the characters make sensible decisions and suffer the consequences of the bad ones. Casting is perfect, Vincent D'Onofrio gave one of the best physical performances still to this day, the main and side characters are distinct and memorable. The effects hold up, and the overall vibe is just terrific. Not to mention Danny Elfman's always awesome score. It's up there with The Matrix and Blade Runner as one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever. It's one of my all-time favorites.

Typical human-like small scale thinking. Stars, nebulas, it doesn't matter. Especially if you look at it from a universal scale. Please try to focus on the forest, not just one tree... sigh
